Reading Resolutions for 2010 and how I actually did with them!
  • will only accept 1 ARC per month- HA! I accepted wayyyy too many ARCs again this year!
  • continue to do book tours- stuck with this one and TLC book tours.
  • try to keep my library check out to 10 books and less so that I can get all of them read! Accomplished
  • will not buy any "new" books from stores for the first 6 months of the year- accomplished
  • will READ my own books!!! FAILED BIG TIME
  • will try to get through all of the ARCs just sitting on my shelves right now. Or if I don't read them I will give them all away!!!!!!!! DIDN'T GET THEM ALL READ- TOOK A BUNCH TO THE LIBRARY
  • keep my reviews short and sweet!! DID PRETTY GOOD ON THIS
  • Continue on with Six Sentence Saturdays YES..KEPT THIS GOING
  • read deliberately!! I love that! TRIED HARD TO DO THIS
My resolutions for 2011:
  • I will continue to stay true to who I am as a writer. I'm not a professional reviewer, nor do I claim to be one. Heck, I can't guarantee grammar, but I do my best to convey to my fellow readers the reasons why I liked or didn't like a particular book. I will never give away spoilers,  never tell you too much, and most importantly I will never ever try to dissect a book!! That's not why I do my blog. I will continue to read and review for the pure love of reading and sharing with others my thoughts. I like to share why a book moved me to tears or to boredom. I hope that when you spend time reading my blog you've enjoyed what you've read and maybe left with a book suggestion.
  • I've decided to accept review books from Sourcebooks, and the occasional request that intrigues me. I will no longer visit Shelf Awareness as it has become more of a hindrance to my goals of trying to read my own books. I need to get my ARC addiction under control!!
  • I will still accept tour books from TLC- I love this company and they always deliver stellar reads to my hands. I did get a bit carried away and have booked myself solid for January and February, but I have claimed March and April for myself and will work really hard to keep it that way!
  • Signed up for less challenges but still just having fun with them. NO STRESS FOR 2011 !!
I would like to thank each and every person who visits my blog and leaves me comments. Let's face it, it's nice to have someone interested in what you have to say and those comments really make me feel great!

As I ring in the New Year tonight I will be toasting and wishing all of the best to each and every one of you!!!!

  1. i really wanted to comment on your year-end post, but couldn't figure out where to do so--it didn't have any comments and it's early here, so i might have missed it!

i am marveling at your ability to read so many books in a year--i barely made it through 153--and that was with 45+ being audio books! wishing you a happy and healthy 2011!

ps. would you be kind enough to open your comments to accept NAME/URL? it's a bit tricky to for self-hosted bloggers to leave comments on some blogger blogs unless we use google, which isn't my fave. thanks!

  4. I do love reading these types of posts. :-) It sounds like you had a great reading year, Staci. Of your favorites list, I've only read one, The Hunger Games. Congratulations on your completed challenges!

Your goals for this next year sound great, Staci. I wish you the best in the new year and I look forward to seeing what you read this next year.

  5. Hi - I couldn't comment this morning either so am just checking back in to invite you to see my blog. I don't know what magic happened in blogger today but . . . . . .

I love your resolutions for 2011. It's a clean slate, kiddo, enjoy it!

  6. Hallelujah! You fixed it. I love your wrap up. Congratulations on your great reading year. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts about the books and have added quite a few to my tbr pile or wishlist. I'm doing a buying ban for the first half of the year as well. Cheers to a wonderful, happy, safe, healthy, fun filled, reading New Year!

  7. Loved your wrap up post and I've truly loved visiting your blog this year Staci; even if that has been a disaster for my groaning tbr pile LOL.

I'm amazed at how many books you read, I love your reviews, your honesty and I can't wait to see what 2011 brings. Have a wonderful year my friend, a year filled with love, laughter and special times, stay safe and happy

  8. You rocked it with 179 books! I really need to stop reading everyone's wrap-ups and start working on my own.

7 challenges completed is 7 more than I even tried. Woot!

Your comment about grammar cracked me up because for my professional reviews, I have an copy editor that I call the grammar police when she isn't looking. Like you, I don't give a hoot about grammar as long as you get what I am saying:)

Happy New Year, may we all achieve at least half of our soon as I get around to setting mine:)

  9. I love this wrap-up post. It came straight from your heart. It was fun to read last year's resolutions and what didn't quite get done.

I also agree with your objective as a book blogger - to simply write how you feel about the books you read. To me that is what makes a good book blogger. It feels like one fellow book lover talking to another book lover.

I sure hope you have a happy New Year's celebration.

  10. 179!!! I can't belive it. I am in awe of you my friend. here's to doing things better and more streamlined in 2011. Although you did a phenominal job in 2010 :)
    Cheers! {{hugs}}

  11. So glad The Secret History of the Pink Carnation was a favorite! I hope you have a fabulous 2011. Happy New Year!

  12. Staci, you had a terrific year...very impressive, and although you failed my challenge miserably (your words...LOL), you know why and that makes it okay:)

Happy New Year; love your blog...friend.

  13. Staci, I'm laughing because I couldn't figure out how to comment earlier - glad to know it wasn't just me!
Great favorite books list. I have three on my shelves to read in 2011: The Secret History of the PC; The Lost Summer of LMA; On Folly Beach. Knowing that they were favorites of yours makes me want to read them very soon.
2011 is going to be mostly reading off my own shelves with a few arcs now and then. That's one of the challenges (Diane's) and then I do the Reagan Arthur Books and the Okra Books which are both ongoing. That's it. I'm holding it at those three.
I'm so glad you're a book blogger. Yours is a fresh voice that I appreciate :-)
    Happy New Year!

  14. Well I see it wasn't just me that had a problem commenting earlier today. Excellent wrap-up post, Staci. I love your review style and look forward to a low-stress 2011, too. Happy New Year!

  15. I hope you have a wonderful and safe New Year.

  16. I loveeeeeeeeeeee this post Staci!!! Happy New Year! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  17. I really love your list of resolutions for the new year. "No stress for 2011" sounds great to me! Happy New Year and Happy Reading!

  18. Congrats on reading so many books this year!! Don't know how you do it, but keep on doing it! Happy New Year!

  19. It sounds like you had a wonderful year of reading as well. I'm going to try and read less ARC's as well but sometimes I just can't resist :) Here is to hoping that you have an even better reading year in 2011!!!

  20. The first comment explains it all... I also tried to comment yesterday but wasn't able to. :)

I love your reviews and try to review in a similar fashion. Can I admit that I skim long reviews to see if they recommend the book? If I haven't read the book yet I am only looking to see if you liked it enough that I need to read it - I don't want to know what happened. Some reviews read like book reports (to much detail for my personal taste).

I hope to read more in 2011 vs listening so much. I think I read less than 30 books in 2010, I'm afraid to look at the total (read vs listen). I ended the year with about 60 books total. An all time high for me!

Have a wonderful weekend. I'm SO excited for you to see your son in San Diego!!!

  21. You did an amazing job on your reading last year! Happy New Year and best wishes for good reading in 2011!

  22. Great wrap up post Staci! I'm with you on trying to stick to a few things instead of a whole bunch but already I find myself overbooking. lol. A girl just never learns!

Happy New Year and I wish you all the best in 2011!

  23. I really enjoyed reading this, Staci. You had a great year, and I hope 2011 brings you even more reading pleasure!

  24. You've had a great blogging year and I'm so glad we're blogging buddies! Just by looking at your total books and the breakdown I think we can see how many books you read off your shelves, haha ;)
Looking forward to another great year of visiting the thumb!

  25. I always love reading your reviews- I think I am going to read Winter Sea next week. Looking forward to reading your blog this year!

  26. Happy New Year! Good luck with your reading goals. I'm always amazed when people hit and exceed wildly that 100 book goal that I never can reach. and wow- what a bunch of arcs.
wishing you a fabulous reading year.
