What Naked in Death is about:
It is the year 2058, and technology now completely rules the world. But New York City Detective Eve Dallas knows that the irresistible impulses of the human heart are still ruled by just one thing-passion.
When a senator's daughter is killed, the secret life of prostitution she'd been leading is revealed. The high-profile case takes Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the rarefied circles of Washing-ton politics and society. Further complicating matters is Eve's growing attraction to Roarke, who is one of the wealthiest and most influential men on the planet, devilishly handsome... and the leading suspect in the investigation
Why I have just now decided to read this series?????? (Shout out to Nise for her awesome reviews of this series!) I didn't even realize that the setting was in the future until I started to read the book and usually I bulk at that type of genre but not this one. I was hooked by page one and flew through this book so fast that I was sorry to see it end. Eve is serious Bad A@$....and I loved her! She's tough yet vulnerable. Robb (Nora Roberts) has created a flawed character that speaks to the reader and draws them into her world. I'm seriously addicted and am excited that I have 34 books still to read!! That's the upside about coming into a series very very late in the game...not having to wait for the next one to be released!
Recommend? Heck ya! If you like tough women with heart, futuristic settings, a hot love interest, and a fast-paced story, then I would totally recommend book one to you. I'm sure that once you get started you won't be able to stop reading them!!!

I think this series is perfect for you! I read this one and the second in 2008 and 09. While I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and storyline, I had enough of the romance. I loved the banter between the two, though. Happy reading the rest of the series, Staci! :)ReplyDelete
Ooh, I'm so glad you decided to read NAKED IN DEATH. It's one of my favorites. I keep meaning to read more of this series - think I've read up through #5 or something like that. And that Roarke....LOL!ReplyDelete
OMG, I so wish I hadn't read this review! Now I want to read this series too!ReplyDelete
I've never read any of the Robb books but your enthusiasm is contagious!ReplyDelete
Oh wow, I had no clue this series was set in the future either. I've been wanting to give it a shot as I love Nora Roberts! All the more reason now!!ReplyDelete
I read one of the books in this series (a friend loaned it to me) ... and I actually had a really hard time with it .. maybe if I would have started in the beginning ... not sure!!ReplyDelete
I have not read this series of books. I think this is the other author that is part owner in a bookstore near me with Nora Roberts...or something to that effect.ReplyDelete
I must read one! I am so curious about RoarkeReplyDelete
I had no idea it was set during the future, which makes it more appealing to me for some reason. ;)ReplyDelete
My husband's going to start the series. I just picked him up the first from the library. I might have to read it as well.ReplyDelete
So glad you loved the first book. It get better and Roarke is to die for! :o) The audiobooks are just as awesome as Susan Erickson does a great job reading.ReplyDelete
I do like to read a book like that every now and thenReplyDelete
I tried one of her books and didn't care for it at all. I think it's the futuristic aspect of it. For some reasons, I prefer the past. Glad you enjoyed it though. :)ReplyDelete
I hear so many good things about this series of hers. I really must try it someday. So glad you enjoyed it!ReplyDelete
I almost skipped over this review because of the author, but then I saw the part about it being futuristic and now I'm actually interested in the series. :)ReplyDelete
I have never read JD Robb.... I should ;)ReplyDelete
I picked up this one last year because of Nise but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I do like my bad asses so I'm looking forward to it.ReplyDelete
I read this book years ago only because J.D.Roth is really Nora Roberts. I liked the book but not necessarily the setting. I handed the book to my youngest dayghter. She's followed the entire series - 30+ I think. So, if you like the books, you'll have plenty to keep you busy.ReplyDelete
