Naked in Death- Bookish Thoughts #36

What Naked in Death is about:
It is the year 2058, and technology now completely rules the world. But New York City Detective Eve Dallas knows that the irresistible impulses of the human heart are still ruled by just one thing-passion.

When a senator's daughter is killed, the secret life of prostitution she'd been leading is revealed. The high-profile case takes Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the rarefied circles of Washing-ton politics and society. Further complicating matters is Eve's growing attraction to Roarke, who is one of the wealthiest and most influential men on the planet, devilishly handsome... and the leading suspect in the investigation

Why I have just now decided to read this series?????? (Shout out to Nise for her awesome reviews of this series!) I didn't even realize that the setting was in the future until I started to read the book and usually I bulk at that type of genre but not this one. I was hooked by page one and flew through this book so fast that I was sorry to see it end. Eve is serious Bad A@$....and I loved her! She's tough yet vulnerable. Robb (Nora Roberts) has created a flawed character that speaks to the reader and draws them into her world. I'm seriously addicted and am excited that I have 34 books still  to read!! That's the upside about coming into a series very very late in the game...not having to wait for the next one to be released!

Recommend? Heck ya! If you like tough women with heart, futuristic settings, a hot love interest, and a fast-paced story, then I would totally recommend book one to you. I'm sure that once you get started you won't be able to stop reading them!!!

  1. I think this series is perfect for you! I read this one and the second in 2008 and 09. While I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and storyline, I had enough of the romance. I loved the banter between the two, though. Happy reading the rest of the series, Staci! :)

  7. I have not read this series of books. I think this is the other author that is part owner in a bookstore near me with Nora Roberts...or something to that effect.

  9. I had no idea it was set during the future, which makes it more appealing to me for some reason. ;)

  13. I tried one of her books and didn't care for it at all. I think it's the futuristic aspect of it. For some reasons, I prefer the past. Glad you enjoyed it though. :)

  15. I almost skipped over this review because of the author, but then I saw the part about it being futuristic and now I'm actually interested in the series. :)

  18. I read this book years ago only because J.D.Roth is really Nora Roberts. I liked the book but not necessarily the setting. I handed the book to my youngest dayghter. She's followed the entire series - 30+ I think. So, if you like the books, you'll have plenty to keep you busy.
