Fledgling illustrator and Darcy fanatic Kay Ashton settles in the seaside town of Lyme to finish her book, The Illustrated Mr. Darcy, when a film company arrives to make a new adaptation of Persuasion. Kay is soon falling for the handsome bad boy actor playing Captain Wentworth, but it's the quiet screenwriter Adam Craig who has more in common with her beloved Mr. Darcy. Though still healing from a broken heart, Adam finds himself unexpectedly in love with Kay, but it will take more than good intentions to convince her that her real happy ending is with him.First Thoughts after I finished: "That was completely adorable...bring me more!"
I thought this book was just what the doctor ordered. I was completely captivated by Lyme Regis and the idea of walking in the steps of my beloved author, Jane Austen. The idea of owning a B&B on the coast in England sounds like heaven to me so I immediately connected with the main character, Kay. She comes into some inheritance which allows her to realize some of her dreams. She's besotted with Austen's writing and obsessed with all things Darcy and Captain Wentworth (Persuasion). What could top off owning your own little piece of heaven? Having an adaptation of 'Persuasion' being filmed in Lyme and housing the stars from the film in your own little B&B....did I mention that she had a gorgeous leading man sleeping just a few doors down from her own room? I loved how the author took a little bit of Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, and Emma made it current and such a fun read! Reading this book has now inspired me to find out more about Lyme Regis, (did you know you can take a tour of Jane's Lyme?????? Sign me up now!) Austen's letters, and of course, to make Persuasion a must read for 2012. I must meet this dashing Captain Wentworth.
Is it possible that he could replace my Mr. Darcy????

This sounds perfect for you. My illusions will be shattered if you dump Darcy for Wentworth, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun! But please don't replace 'our' Mr. Darcy!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow I really can't wait to read this book! I had high hopes for it and your review confirmed my pre-review sentiments.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds like the most fun so far of the ones you've reviewed!
ReplyDeleteNope. As much as I love Captain Wentworth, Mr. Darcy just can't be replaced. LOL ;o)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds delightful!!! LOVE it! :):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteWentworth really can't hold a candle to Darcy. I will get into the fights with anyone who says otherwise! ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm on team Darcy :) I added this to my wish list. Thanks, Staci!
ReplyDeleteA nice romance to settle down with during a cold rainy day! I enjoyed your review, which has me wishing for this book!
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds like great fun...And you cannot replace DARCY, maybe just sit idly by whilst they fight over you!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this book and for you to read Persuasion! After reading Persuasion, Captain Wentworth took the top spot in my heart, but there's always room for Mr. Darcy. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for your review on this one, I'm glad it didn't dissappoint. And no, I don't think Mr. Wentworth will replace Darcy at least for you.
ReplyDeleteI love Wenthworth, no one, I say NO ONE can write a letter like he can
ReplyDeleteI feel like I say this every time I see that you have read an Austen spinoff but I WILL read something by Jane Austen next year. I must...
ReplyDeleteSo glad this one got the Staci Stamp of Satisfaction! Whaaaaaa? Is Darcy falling off the "HOT" list to be replaced by Capt. Wentworth? Oh, no, the stars are out of alignment!
ReplyDeleteuh...it just might be possible. Sounds like a delightful read.
ReplyDeleteI'm all about Mr. Darcy, but Persuasion is my favorite Austen so far. Wentworth can write a tear-worthy love letter!
ReplyDeleteI've been traveling so I missed this one from last week. Yikes - I hate to miss any of your "Mr. Darcy posts." However, I must say this book looks so good. I'm heading over to Amazon and see if I can get it on my kindle. My thoughts on Darcy vs. Wentworth: Why only one? If it's a fantasy, take them both.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like one I'd like and what an adorable cover. I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteEven I like the sound of this one. Will have to check it out.
