My sickness is still with me...I only brought home 2 new books this week!! But the real problem is that now I'm back to work and my son is playing sports, I'm finding my time to read books and blogs has suffered!! Oh, how I long for those summer days where I could read to my heart's content!!!

by Ellen Hopkins** no blame to pass on this one. I absolutely love this author and gobble up each new one that she releases!!
Synopsis:
Five teenagers from different parts of the country. Three girls. Two boys. Four straight. One gay. Some rich. Some poor. Some from great families. Some with no one at all. All living their lives as best they can, but all searching...for freedom, safety, community, family, love. What they don't expect, though, is that they can have all of these things when those powerful little words "I love you" are said for all the wrong reasons. Five moving stories remain seperate at first, then interweave to tell a larger, powerful story- a story about making choices, taking leaps of faith, falling down, and growing up.
White Queen by Philippa Gregory** This book is the fault of Teddyree from The Eclectic Reader. Her fantastic review made me want to read this book and you would be amazed at how much power she has over me in regards to this book! This is my first time reading Gregory...can't wait!!

At first I thought you were really sick! I've never heard of Hopkins before. The story sounds interesting, but doesn't seem to match the cover entirely. Looking forward to your review of that one!

ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of Phillipa Gregory around, in fact my daughter just said I needed to read her books. She said I would like them very much. Have fun with your new reads.

Tricks sounds soooooo good! I haven't yet read any of her books, but my daughter really wants us to read Crank as one of our school reads. I suspect we probably will.
ReplyDeleteGregory's books have long been on my tbr pile. Sadly I keep putting them off since more and more get heaped on. My next Fill In Then Gaps challenge list will have a lot of Gregory on it! LOL!

I just found out that Ellen Hopkins is going to be at a writer's conference I'm going to in Bologna in March. Very excited!!

ReplyDeleteI've never read a Philippa Gregory novel before, but since I've only just got really interested in historical fiction I can hopefully be excused from that lapse. :D
