What My One and Only is about:
Divorce attorney Harper James can’t catch a break. Bad enough that she runs into her ex-hubby, Nick, at her sister’s destination wedding, but now, by a cruel twist of fate, she’s being forced to make a cross-country road trip with him. And her almost-fiancé back at home is not likely to be sympathetic.
Harper can’t help that Nick has come blazing back into her life in all of his frustratingly appealing, gorgeous architect glory. But in Nick’s eyes, Harper’s always been the one. If they can only get it right this time, forever might be waiting—just around the bend
This one took me a bit to get into but about 50 pages I was off and running! I liked Harper and realized early on that she was just afraid of being abandoned by those she loved and so I was able to accept her crazy behavior!! Even though I felt some things were a bit improbable, I still enjoyed the story.
My favorite part was this:
The sun was so bright outside that for a moment, I couldn't see. But then I could, and there he was, leaning against the red Mustang, hands in his pockets, looking at the ground. He looked up, saw me, froze for a second...and then his lightning smile flashed, and I realized I was smiling, too.
In that moment this scene from my teens (a fave!) and might I add THE SONG (I love this song! Thompson Twins Rock!) flashed through my head....and I was totally in love with Nick!
P.S. You don't have to watch the whole thing, just the first 40 seconds will do the trick!
Recommend? Yes. It was a funny, romantic story.
