We share what we each picked up at the library during the week.
I brought home one book this week and it was actually a hold request that came in. The crazy thing is...I don't remember putting a hold on this book. In fact, I don't even know where I read about it!!! So if you've reviewed this one, let me know because maybe you're the reason why I'm losing my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irene dos Santos disappeared at age 15. Believed to have drowned while on holiday with her best friend, Lily Martinez, her body was never found. Now, years later, she appears ghostlike in Lily's dreams, prompting a quest for the truth behind her disappearance. Mysteriously, Lily, eight-months pregnant with her first child, slips and falls on the same day that the statue of Maria Lionza, Patron Saint of their Venezuelan town, cracks in two. Confined to her bed, Lily is surrounded by her family and closest friends, who agree that a Novena to Maria Lionza will guide the baby's spirit safely into the world. Together, through their nine nights of prayer, each offers a story to entertain Lily and her baby. What emerges is a vivid picture of Venezuela during a time of revolution and uncertainty-and the unraveling of the mystery behind Irene dos Santos

ReplyDeleteI know that going 'senile' is not funny but I did laugh :)
ReplyDeleteJokes aside, the book sounds very interesting so hopefully you won't regret requesting it from the library.
Wasn't me! Does look like an interesting book though!
ReplyDeleteSounds really good though. Wasn't me who recommended it.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with it!
I quite understand your one book from the library. I haven't checked out library books in weeks, even months! That doesn't mean I don't have books to read...
ReplyDeleteI think this book was on tour a while ago - there were lots of reviews of it!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of it. Hope you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI have this book but have not read it..(what else is new..huh LOL) Hope u enjoy this one Staci.
ReplyDeleteThat's happened to me, too. Does that mean we're both losing our minds??! I blame it on late-night library website surfing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this book, but it sounds really interesting.
Staci that is a great idea to track blogger recommendations. I might have ti borrow that. I love Irene Dos Santos. It's different and complex , but I loved it. Definitely not your average read.
ReplyDeleteThat's happened to me before. I like to think it's a benevolent book fairy or an absentminded click!
ReplyDeleteI did read and review this book but didn't totally understand the ending. We should talk after you've read it.
ReplyDeletelol, the fact that you forgot made me laugh :P Ah, the world of a bookworm...
ReplyDeleteJust one book!!! I am so impressed by your restraint. Looks like a good pick.
ReplyDeleteI forget all the time where I hear about books, sooo... I usually remember I put them on hold ,though. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone--I can never remember where I hear of books.

I've read good things about this one, so I hope you enjoy it! (Oh and I can totally relate to forgetting things...)
ReplyDeleteFor once, I actually have more books checked out of the library than you do :) It's this hoarding for the read-a-thon that's doing me in!
