Six Sentence Movie Thoughts

Welcome to Six Sentence Movie Thoughts.
Where I try to express my thoughts on recent movies
using only 6 sentences!!!!.
At the end of each review I will post a
rating scale of 1-5 .
Rating scale will be as follows:

5 Stars- You must watch this movie NOW!!
4 Stars- A great movie, put it on your TBW list.
3 Stars- Happy that I watched it...a good way to spend a few hours.

2 Stars- Just O.K but nothing to write home about.

One Day
~Reason for watching it: I have the book but just haven't made the time to get to it. Saw this at the library for $1.50 and figured why not.

I loved the concept of getting together every year on the same day and also the emotional turmoil Emma and Dexter experienced as their relationship changed and evolved. Even though much of it played out quite predictably, I still enjoyed the movie. I really want to read the book because I'm sure it will add a bit more depth to the story.

Rating: 3 Stars

One For the Money
~ Reason for watching it: I have been reading Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series forever. I had to see how it translated to film.

After watching this I can say that I accept Katherine Heigl as Stephanie and heck, I even liked who they picked for Joe Morelli. But, I totally can not accept who they cast as Ranger! Ranger needed to be larger than life, not a few inches taller than Stephanie. Other than that, I thought the movie was cute and not a terrible way to spend a couple of hours.

Rating: 3 Stars

The Vow
~ Reason for watching it: I thought it looked incredibly romantic and Channing Tatum is a hottie.

Who in the world wrote this piece of garbage??? OMG! I hated Paige after the accident...she was a cold-hearted person and treated Leo terribly. Yet, poor Leo kept hanging on and believing with time that she would love him again. I think the producers would have done better to stick with the true story instead of trying to put a modern (current time instead of the 1990's) twist on this stupid story. But I guess a couple with strong faith and values doesn't sell in Hollywood.
Rating: 0 Stars

The Hunger Games
~ Reason for watching it: I loved the book and missed the movie when it was in the theater!

Wow!! My husband and I watched this one together and I was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed it. Have to tell you that it really stirred up a great conversation between us and we were talking about this one well after it finished. The costumes were amazing and I thought it stayed fairly true to the book. This one was worth the $3.00 I spent on all four of the movies!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

  1. I can't believe i haven't seen any of these movies! We went to see Skyfall and Flight this past week and hope to see Lincoln and Life of Pi soon as well.

  2. Thank goodness you gave me a review of The Vow! I hadn't heard a lot on it, but I am glad to know I need NOT waste my time or money on it! :) And you know I loved the Hunger Games!!!

  3. I was amazed by how much I liked The Hunger Games--surprisingly good. The premise of One Day also appeals to me, so I'll have to search for it on Netflix.

    I like your 6-sentence approach--fun post!

  4. A 0 star rating? Wow, that must have been some stinker!! Glad you liked the other three. I haven't seen any of these but I know from the trailer that Debbie Reynolds is NOT grandma Mazur. No way, nuh uh. NO!! N. O.

  5. My daughter and I are Stephanie Plum fans, but have been avoiding the movie. Glad to know you accpet Heigl as Stephanie. Now, will I be able to accept Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher? Time will tell!

  6. The Hunger Games made me feel sick in the theater so I had to leave early - I need to rent it to see what I missed.

I enjoyed The Vow more than you did but didn't love it. I admit I enjoyed watching Channing Tatum.

  7. Well, now I know not to bother with The Vow! My family has seen The Hunger Games multiple times, so I'm kind of done with it now, but it was very well done.

  8. Out of all of those the only one I've wanted to see is Hunger Games. I read One Day and thought it was pretty good, haven't seen the movie though.

  9. I've seen all of them except One For the Money. Loved The Hunger Games!! and I agree with your comments about Paige, she was a cow and I felt terribly sorry for Leo. One Day was good :)

  10. Ouch - 0 stars? Is that a first? Miss H and I kept thinking we'd have to rent The Vow sometime. Guess not!

  11. I haven't seen any of these, though I'm curious about One for the Money. Too bad Channing Tatum's movie was a dud - he is a hottie though!

  12. O stars for The Vow? Whoa! That must really suck. I loved The Hunger Games movie. Just loved. They did an excellent job with it. I have not seen One for the Money yet. No interest in One Day.

  13. I too was pleased with the screen adaption of Hunger Games. Thank goodness, right? I've also read all the Stephanie Plum books and was very nervous when Katherine Heigl was cast as Stephanie. She grew on me though and it was obvious that she really tried to become Evanovich's Stephanie. I'm a Morrelli girl so I had really high expectations for his character, so I wasn't completely ok with his character but I'm right with you with being completely disappointed in Ranger. WHAT?? No way...that will never work for me.

  14. Forgot to say that I really like your movie review format!! Can't wait to see more :)
