We also gutted our horrible looking bathroom! It was just plain sad, let me tell you people! Now, I love it! The walls are a pale green with oak flooring, a new toilet that has the flush button on the top!! Woot! Woot! New vanity and vanity top. We still have to pick out a medicine cabinet, lighting, and finish the drop ceiling. But it already is 100x's better than it was!! We also had the contractor finish the drywall we started in our hallway and utility room. Those are both painted and now my husband just has to finish the floor in there, hang doors, and we'll call it good.
We also had the contractor finish our horrible attempt at drywalling in our front entrance. That is now primered but still needs to be painted and the floor put down. That will happen this spring.
Then the contractor finished our other botch job at the top of our stairs!! We suck at drywall! We can put it up but we have no skills for taping and mudding!! That still has to be primered and so does the upstairs hallway. We'll finish that when my husband has his next 7 days off!!
Needless to say we've been living in chaos for about a month and it has been driving all of us crazy! We were able to make the house look decent for the Christmas tree and we all took Christmas day off to rest and enjoy each others company. It was a lot of hard work but I feel like we really accomplished so much!! I'm proud of my husband...we made a good team!!
Please forgive my absence on your blogs. I will be making my rounds tomorrow because guess what???? I don't have anything pressing to do!! Yippee!!!! Now, I'm off to help my husband put our bed back up. We've been sleeping on a mattress from the camper on our living room floor. I can not wait to crawl into bed tonight!
How exciting! It can be a pain to live through, but the end results will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteChristmas tree and drywall dust, oh my! :) You'll be so glad you went through the hassle once it's done. The added insulation makes such a difference, especially on cold, windy nights like tonight.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh HOW EXCITING!!! I want to see pics when it's all DONE!! :):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteAwesome job you're doing together. We did renos on our home for almost 3 years and it was painful to say the least, I never wanted to see plaster dust again lol.
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see photos when you're finished!! Rest up now :))
I cannot wait to see the finished product. I am so proud of you both.
ReplyDeleteWow, and through the holidays too! Looking forward to pics of the finished projects. Enjoy your 'down time' :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the after photos! It's tough to live in the house when it's being renovated. Our house up north was built in 1926 and we practically rebuilt the thing over the 26 years we lived there. Take a well deserved break!
ReplyDeleteI bet it'll all be worth it in the end. Can't wait to see the finished pics!!
ReplyDeleteWow, your renovations sound very exciting! I hope we'll be seeing "after" pictures too!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes ... the joys of renovation! I live in a 110 year old home and know what you're going through. A mess now but SO worth it in the end. Can't wait to see pics when it's done!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see pictures when you are all done. The pain is always worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteI've been there. It's so hard to live there while working on it but in the end, you will have a gorgeous and more comfortable living space. Trust me!
ReplyDeleteWow that's a lot of work. Glad the end is near!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I look forward to seeing the end result!
ReplyDeleteYay for making it warmer :D It sure seems to have been needed
ReplyDeleteI love reading about other people's renovations! Especially when they're over...not during, of course.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the photos!
What a lot of work, but I bet it will be beautiful when it's done! Can't wait to see what it looks like!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad I didn't miss too much on you blog since you've been so busy with reno work! (We just spent 9 days in the "happiest place on earth" so I'm catching up with the book world while I've been away, too.) Enjoy your lovely new home updates!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so awesome to be doing all those renos Staci. Sure it's a lot of work but once it's all done it'll be so worth it.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting!! Can't wait to see the 'after' pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a bit of renovating you are doing there. Drywall is not fun. We did one room and I don't think we will ever tackle it ourselves again. Those pros sure can make it look easy! Ha! Can't wait to see you finished pictures. Enjoy sleeping in a real bed!
ReplyDeleteWell looks like you had a "white Christmas" with all that drywall dust! LOL (sorry I couldn't resist)
ReplyDeleteI am happy you are pleased with the results. I could not live through that turmoil.
It sounds like you've got your hands full!! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures when you are done and everything is complete :)
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic! I'm glad it's made such a difference for your room! I grew up in an old house like that and my bedroom was the one that always felt like a refrigerator. In summertime it was great, but in winter it would actually frost inside the windows on cold days. Getting ready for school in the morning was something I dreaded all winter long. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting it all back together. Can't wait to make it up one of these days to see it all. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Can't wait to see the finished product!
ReplyDeleteWe just renovated our guest bath and hired someone to do the mudding after we put the drywall up, too.
Gage's room is the coldest room in the house, sounds like he needs some foam.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor :)
How exciting!!! All the chaos will be worth it in the long run. We are going to redo our 80s kitchen this year. I can't wait. I look forward to your after pics!
