What Would Jane Austen Do? - Laurie Brown

I read this book during my flight to and from San Diego last week and what a great way to spend my time! This was a fun, light book into the time period of Jane Austen but with a twist! The main character Eleanor is visiting a countryhouse for a costume design convention in the current day, when she unexpectedly encounters two ghosts who whisk her back in time to right a wrong. I loved learning more about the dress from that time period and how Eleanor tried to be convincing that she knew the norms and customs of early English 1800s. I also really liked how the author was able to work in appearance of the real Jane Austen and her sister into the story- very believable and Eleanor's reactions were hilarious! If you're looking for a fun and sometimes steamy Austen variation this one will be sure to satisfy.
My Rating:
Sounds like perfect flight reading! I am glad you enjoyed this one, Staci.
ReplyDeleteHm, I'm not sure this one is for me.
ReplyDeleteI tried to download this one but, of course, has computer problems! Glad it was a good read for your plane ride.
ReplyDeleteSometimes froth (aka "a fun and sometimes steamy Austen variation") is just what the doctor ordered. Glad you enjoyed this one :)
ReplyDeleteAn airplane is a great place to get lost in a book. My only problem is that my legs cramp up. Sounds like this one was a good choice though, knowing how much you love Austen.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it comes as a surprise when I say that I want to read this book :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear this one was good and I'm glad to see Six Sentence Saturday. I missed it last week but it sounds like you were absent for a good cause.
ReplyDeleteSan Diego sounds nice this time of year. Glad you had a good book to read!

ReplyDeleteI picked it up as a free download (thanks, Sourcebooks!) - sounds like a good one for the beach :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great premise! And the cover is very tempting, so to speak!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Certainly not the cover I was expecting with this title.
ReplyDeleteI am not very sure of this one too.
ReplyDeleteSounds reminiscent of the TV series "Lost in Austen" - i am sure this could be a fun read!
ReplyDeleteGreat review on this one and a great way to spend your plane trip!
ReplyDeleteSounds like another one I read...
ReplyDeleteI have this one as well as a few other free downloads. Looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI won this book ages ago, but just haven't read it yet. Sounds like a fun read.
ReplyDeleteI've been busy, you've been busy so I thought I'd just stop by and say hi. Looks like you had a fun trip all the way around what with a fun Jane Austen book to read :)
ReplyDeleteI remember when I used to do Six Sentence Saturdays. I should bring that back. I tried to review a book the other night and couldn't think of a lot to say... Perfect for this!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good read to me although I don't equate Jane Austen with fun or "steamy". Should be an interesting take on Austen.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you enjoyed this book. I got a free copy from the download as well and have thought about starting it a couple of times. Sometimes a good light-hearted read is just what you need!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those books I just had to have and then never read. It is sitting in Mount Booksuvius patiently waiting to be read. Great review swewetie :)
