We share what we each picked up at the library during the week.
I know that when I list how many books that I've read, people are like wow! that's a lot of reading. Here is the insanity behind it....I have a problem. I feel like I MUST get these books down before they're due back to the library. When I renew one and still don't get it finished I feel bad. Weird huh? So I'm working really hard on getting through my loot and then I need to rethink how many books I check out at one time. I'm going to TRY to limit myself to 4 books per week. If I keep with this then I should be able to get those ARCs read, and start reading books from my own shelves! I have NOT read one book from my own shelves yet this year!!! Sad, very sad!!!
Here's what followed me home last week:
The Choice (Lancaster County Secrets #1) - Suzanne Woods Fisher
Blaming this book on - Sheila of One Person's Journey Through a World of Books. She wrote a fantastic review and I love reading about the Amish culture.
The Secret History of the Pink Carnation - Lauren Willig
Blaming this book on - a co-worker. She raved and raved about this series last week, so while she was standing there gushing about this book, my excitement level kept getting higher and higher. Next thing I know...I'm requesting it from the library!!!
City of Refuge - Tom Piazza
Blaming this book on - Wendy of Caribou's Mom. I absolutely LOVED her review and I knew that this was a MUST read book for me!
Books Read in 2010 to date: 37
Number of Books Checked out from the library:12 ( I'm getting there!! But I just checked and I have 2 holds to pick up!!)
A friend at work is reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation and raving about it. I usually trust her books recs so I am definitely going to read them (eventually).
ReplyDeletewe are soooooooooooo much alike .... its scary!!! lol! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteIt is almost an obsession, isn't it. There just aren't enough hours in the day to read all the books on our tbr lists. Have a great week and enjoy your loot.
ReplyDeleteMy year has been spent reading library books ;)
ReplyDeleteMy poor own shelves
Gah! I stop over here all nice this morning with coffee and I see you are blaming a book on me! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the book and your day!
You got quite a variety of books! I love all of Wendy's reviews!
ReplyDeleteGo ahead repeat after me: "I am an addict, and books are my drug of choice."
ReplyDeleteLOL
I don't feel bad renewing books but I feel bad when I have to return them unread! I have The Secret History of the Pink Carnation on my TBR shelf. I hope to read it one day soon:)
ReplyDeleteDid you not like the new commenting system, I see you switched back to blogger.
Not one book from your shelves? You are going to be drowning in books soon :)
ReplyDeleteThe Secret History of the Pink Carnation is on my tbr list. I haven't requested it yet. I'm sure your review will compell me to request it! Hopefully I can finish 2 more of the books at home before I do!
ReplyDeleteUh Oh, when you read Pink Carnation, you are going to love it and want to read the rest of the series and that may cause you to check out more than 4books a week! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI guess some people would call your problem an addiction but it's such a lovely addiction. There are plenty of negative things you could be compulsive about but the book addiction is a very good thing.
ReplyDeleteI really loved City of Refuge. I felt for the characters and it provided lots of food for thought. Hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret History of the Pink Carnation seems to have a lot of votes. I'll have to look it up at the library! thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteI know I've told you this before, but you have a great library!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of them, but I hope you enjoy your loot, Staci!
ReplyDeleteWendy is so smart. If she recommended it, then....
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your review on The Choice. I too love reading about the Amish. I'm not sure why, but I've always been interested in it!
ReplyDeleteOddly, I feel the same way about unfinshed library books. I have a copy of City of Refuge and look forward to reading it. My hubby got to it first and he's a slow reader.
ReplyDeleteThirty-seven books read in less than two months is fantastic. That's 222 books a year at that rate. Whew. Enjoy your loot.
City of Refuge sounds so good! I can't wait to read your thoughts on it!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I've been dying to read City of Refuge! Chris said it's just so authentically New Orleans. Hope you love it! In fact, I hope you love them all. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have nice things to blame on people :) I do love seeing what everybody is reading.
ReplyDeleteShut up!
ReplyDeleteStill waiting on Pink Carnation from my library.
Enjoy your "followers" :)
Oooooh, I really hope you LOVE City of Refuge :)
ReplyDelete(pssst, Kathy and Beth, you are making me blush - STOP!!! *laughs*)
