Six Sentence Saturday

Welcome to Six Sentence Saturday.
Where I try to express my thoughts on recent reads using only 6 sentences!!!!.
At the end of each review I will post a
rating scale of 1-5 using the cute and original (lol) Playing Cards.
Rating scale will be as follows:

5 of Hearts- You must read this book NOW!!
4 of Hearts- A great read, put it on your TBR list.
3 of Hearts- Glad I read but no big deal

2 of Hearts- Why did I finish this?
Joker Card - Don't bother (why did I?)

Aunt Dimity's Death by Nancy Atherton
** If this is what cozy mysteries are all about then I will be reading more of them through the winter season. I totally enjoyed the could you not? Young lady loses her mom, husband, is broke, and then comes to find that she has a so-called "fairy godmother."" Even though this all seemed highly unlikely to happen in real life, it never interfered with my ability to get lost in the story. Finding this book was just a stroke of luck, I saw the cover at B&N and thought it looked cute. Little did I know that I would find myself loving cozy mysteries and wanting more!!
My Rating:

If You Come Softly and Behind You by Jacqueline Woodson
** I read these two books during the Read-a-Thon and they made my experience wonderful. This is YA at its best...the writing is real, honest, and at times poetic. I have been meaning to read Woodson but never made time. That has all changed. I have many of her books on my middle school library shelves, so I will read those and then move on to the ones from my public library. You must read these books back-to-back because they complete the love story of Miah and Ellie, be prepared with kleenex because they pack an emotional punch!

My Rating for both:

  1. I actually haven't read "Behind You" yet - I'm still getting over "If You Come Softly." Isn't Woodson just amazing? I have to get a copy of Behind You.

  2. The Jacqueline Woodson books sound so good. I love books that make you feel something!

  3. I listened to my first cozy last Christmas, and I've been hooked since. They are great fun to read. I want to read a cozy this holiday--maybe this one?

  4. I'm glad you discovered cozies. They are such fun all year but especially good in winter. Great with those six sentences again.

  5. I'm going to have to look for some Aunt Dimity books on CD at my library. I love to listen to cozy mysteries while I'm working.

  6. Aunt Dimity is such a fun series. Although the recent one with the vampire was not quite up to Atherton's earlier efforts. If you are venturing into the world of cozies, try M.C. Beaton and the Agatha Raisin series. Sheer brain candy fun.

  7. I have a ton of cozies that some day I really need to get to. I find they are perfect for when I'm feeling a bit down or sad... they just seem to be nice and sweet and short little reads! Glad to see you enjoyed your first one!

  8. I really like what I have read by Jacqueline Woodson so far!

  9. Why haven't I read If You Come Softly? It's a quick read, and plus Debi was sweet enough to get my a copy...I have no excuse!

  10. I've heard such great things about the Aunt Dimity series. I am glad you enjoyed it. Jacqueline Woodson's book sounds really good too.

  11. ohhhhhhhhhhh i totally believe in fairy godmothers....i'm still looking for mine though!!! LOL!!! great reviews my dearest! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  12. WOW I haven't read anything by Jacqueline Woodson but I'm going to fix that. Thanks for the recommendation :-)

  13. I haven't read either of these but I'll have to check them out with such good ratings from you.

  14. Cozy mysteries are fun when you need something comfy.
I don't think I've read anything about Woodson. THanks for the heads up.

  15. I think your idea of Six Sentences is great fun. I also enjoy Cosy Mysteries.

  16. Never heard of the Woodson books. They sound lovely even if they make you cry.
