'Kingdom of Summer' by Gillian Bradshaw (reissue by Sourcebooks)

While defending Arthur's kingdom, the great warrior Gwalchmai commits a grave offense against the woman he loves. She disappears, and haunted by her memory, Gwalchmai travels to the most beautiful land of all as he searches for her. But an unexpected and malevolent force of evil and Darkness has taken root there...and it will be up to Gwalchmai once again to serve the Light.

The Three Reasons Review is a simple way to get your thoughts out there about a book.  The reasons are as follows complete with fancy button:

1.) Reasons you chose this book
I'm a huge fan of King Arthur legends and that is why I wanted to read this one.

2.) Reasons you liked or disliked this book
I liked it just fine, however, I really feel that I did a disservice to myself by not reading the first book in the series. I will however, remedy that situation one of these days and then re-read this one!
I enjoyed reading the story of Sir Gawain and how he became a part of Arthur's noble warriors.

3.) Reasons you are recommending this book
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves the tales of King Arthur, Guinevere, Sir Lancelot, and Morgaine (Morgawse) . I'm always looking for that book that will top Mists of Avalon or Mary Stewart's Arthurian Saga. This one doesn't ,but I did enjoy spending time in that world again.

Rating: 7/10

Just my two cents....I liked the original cover better. Really gives it that fantasy flair that I loved back when that was all I read!

  1. Hmmmmmm this one would be hard for me...I always have a hard time with these type stories. Hoping you have a good week my friend! :):):):):):):):):):):)

  2. My husband is a huge fan of Sir Arthur stories. We were watching one of the many movies last week and he mentioned it was time to reread the old tale again. I'm tempted to suggest this book to him,

  3. My sister would probably enjoy this one more than I would.

  4. I like the Arthurian legends and I believe you when you say this one is a good novel of the legend. One of my favorites is The Once and Future King by T.H. White. Hope you'll visit my book teaser

  5. I have to say that "Gwalchmai" doesn't sound like the most romantic name to be whispering....

  6. I've really become a fan of all books to do with King Arthur as well. This sounds good. I'll have to check out this series for sure - starting from the beginning though. Lol.

  7. I am not a big fan of Arthur stories, cos every time they manage to depress me :(

  8. I won't go out if my way, but if I see it I'll pick it up. Nothing will ever top Mists of Avalon. LOVE that book!

  9. I confess I am not a big fan of Arthurian stories, but Mists of Avalon is one of my all time favorites. Now you have me curious about Mary Stewarts book! I am glad you enjoyed Kingdom of Summer!

  10. I need about two solid days of reading to finish up Mists of Avalon. Since that's not going to happen who knows when I'll get it done!

  11. I enjoyed Mists of Avalon so will have to check this one out.

  12. Sounds like a fun book but I agree, books read in order are usually the way to go. I'll have to check the first one out.

  13. I am always amazed how much we have in common, but how different our preference in books is! This is one I would never pick up, but I liked your review!

  14. This sounds like a book that I would enjoy for sure!!! I've only read one Arthur book but it instantly had me hooked so I can't wait to read this one at some point. Thanks for the great review!
