Blogging Awards

I want to thank each person who has ever sent an award my way and I apologize if I haven't posted them in a more timely manner. I always tell myself I'll do that on this day and before I know it...this day has come and gone more than 30 times!! I sincerely appreciate the awards, I'm just a slacker when it comes to posting them on my blog!

______________________________________________________________

I received this award from Jennifer of Reading with Tequila. I so love her header and her blog.

7 unknown facts about me:
  1. All those juvenile movies that are stupid and gross and have really stupid jokes.....the same ones that I tell my sons are dumb...secretly I enjoy most of them!
  2. I could go days without feeling the need to leave my property. As long as I have food, my fave drink, and a lot of good books
  3. I would never dress up if I didn't have to...love jeans and a t-shirt!
  4. I suffer from anxiety attacks (thanks Mom for the gene) and slight OCD.
  5. As long as I have my family I don't need material things...they mean very little to me.
  6. I hate wearing shoes...barefoot or my birks is the only way to go!
  7. I will never, ever skydive ........ever!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received this award from JoAnn of Lakeside Musing. Her header is gorgeous and shows us a favorite view of hers from her home. Love it! Thanks JoAnn for passing this one on to me!! When Pistol was a kitten I was forever taking pictures of her and Bruce together. When she first arrived in our yard, he was deathly afraid of her. Now, they're like an old married couple!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I met another blogger from Michigan!!! Allie of A Literary Odyssey passed this award on to me! Thanks so much Allie!!!

A Prolific Blogger is one who is intellectually productive…
keeping up an active blog that is filled with enjoyable content.

I'm not sure how intellectual I am, but I do try to have fun!! Thanks again, Allie!

Natalie from The Book Inn honored me with this blogger award.
Isn't it adorable???

Catching up on Awards and Asking For Forgiveness!!

I wanted to take this time to acknowledge the awards that some fellow bloggers bestowed upon me in the past month or so. And in doing so I throw myself at your feet and beg your forgiveness for how long it has taken me to do this post!! My only defense is that I have a son who plays sports and that means 2 nights a week are late nights. Added on to that I am a Girl Friday for a couple of teachers so I do some extra stuff for them at night too. Plus, on top of all of that I try to keep up on my regular posting and visiting blogs...and I'm going to BLAME Bonnie at Red Lady's Reading Room who sent me an invite for Facebook and now I MUST spend time there too. Then, of course, I want to read, eat, and visit with my family!!!! You get the picture right?

Catching up with some stuff.....

Blog Awards

My fellow bloggers are some of the greatest people you could ever wish to meet. These past months they have been kind enough to honor my blog with several different blog awards and I've been a bad recipient by not posting them in a regular post. So I plan on rectifying the situation today. Some of these awards I've received twice so I would just like to say that any blog you see in my blogroll are all more than worthy of these awards, so I won't be nominating any blogs for those. But my newest award, The Sisterhood Award, I will be sending on to others!!

Kristi from Books and Needlepoint awarded my blog this:
Premio Dardos Award
`This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in his or her effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day.

*** Can I just say that Kristi is a fantastic book blogger and I really enjoy the diverse posts that she does! Thanks Kristi for passing this award on to me!

Bonnie from Redlady's Reading Room gave me this award:

4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Remember to link to the person from whom you received your award.

Before I list my nominees, I just want the blogger world to know that Bonnie is the truest example of Sisterhood Spirit. She was one of the first people to visit my blog and leave me a comment. She's never missed a post regardless of how trivial it may be, and she always corresponds with me when I send her an email. Her personality comes through in her posts and she's just a positive person!! Bonnie-a big huge Thank You!!

  • Nymeth at things mean a lot- Nymeth is a shining star and her blog is absolutely fascinating. I love to read her opinions on the books she's read and she has helped me to step outside of my "normal" reading habits and to expand!

  • Janel at Janel's Jumble- Janel and I tend to send short emails back and forth to each other about books, current posts, family's health...she's just a great person who always is there supporting her fellow bloggers!!
  • Dar at Peeking Between the Pages- Dar might not know it but all of her encouraging emails and comments has really given me the courage to continue to blog about the books I read and to just be myself when I post about my thoughts!! Thanks Dar!
  • Kaye at Pudgy Penguin Perusals- Kaye has been so generous to give me advice about posting book giveaways and some other cool ideas about my blog layout. Thanks Kaye for taking the time to help me...I appreciate your kindness.
Now, I know that I've left out so many great people out there and believe me I could go on and on, but I want to make sure that you check out my sidebar to the right because there are so many great book blogs out there and so many wonderful supportive people in the blogosphere!

All of these awards I would like to pass on to all my friends that stopped by today and in the past and left me comments, encouraged me, and have extended the hand of friendship. I thank you!!

The Blog World Rocks

And let me tell you why.....

You can be having a bad day at work, home, or just out in the big old world but then you log onto your computer and head over to your blog to discover that you have received not 1 but 2 awards from fellow blogger friends. A smile creeps onto your face and you feel just a little bit like Sally Fields..."You like me, you really really like me." I love this blogging community so much. A few of us are lucky and actually know each other IRL but for the most part we've been brought together by similar hobbies, passions, or by chance. Whatever the case is, I've found a great group of people who take time out of their busy lives to visit my blog and then to leave me a comment. Comments are the greatest thing in the world. They are a big highlight of my day when I go to my email and see that I've had someone drop in during the night and then decided to let me know they were there....I love them and treasure each one. I always email the person back if they have an email attached to their message and if not, then I travel to their blog to let them know I appreciated their time and that I'm interested in what they have to say. What almost always happens is that I start following their blog and/or listing it in my ever-expanding blog roll!!! So I want to take this moment right now and say THANK YOU to each and every person who has ever taken a precious moment out of their lives to stop in and help brighten my day!!!

Earlier this week I opened one of my emails to find that Bonnie from Redlady's Reading Room had bestowed this award to my blog.

Prémio Dardos Award:

“The Prémio Dardos is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing”. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web“.

Thanks for thinking of me when you had to pass this award along. I've said it before but I must say it again...I love Bonnie's Blog! Like I said above, this blogging community is truly wonderful and she is a prime example of that!! Now, I must pass this on to 5 bloggers who've made a difference in my life.

Where do I start? This is the hard part because there are so many great people who continue to come back d
aily to my blog and leave me a comments, are supportive, give me suggestions for books to read, and sometimes things to think about....so in no particular order.

All of you, whether you realize it or not, have been a major blessing in my life....Thank you!

____________________________________________________________________

Later in the week I received a note from Kristi at booksandneedlepoint that she had given me an award.........

Blog Friends Award

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

My main goal from my blog is to share my love of reading with others, to interact with others, and to help support and encourage everyone I meet along the way with their dreams, cry with them when something bad happens, cheer with them when they're on top of the world...basically just to share this rollercoaster ride called LIFE!!

**Kristi and I both like to cross stitch and her header is absolutely breath-taking. The amount of time she devoted to finishing that project is unreal...she's a great person!! Thanks again Kristi!!

Please check out these great blogs...I love reading them each and every day!!

____________________________________________________________________

And last but not least...THIS IS WHY I LOVE BLOGGING!!

I read an email sent by Karen from Nouvelle Blogger who was commenting on my Teasers Tuesdays post. I'm currently reading Pride and Prejudice and this was her initial comment.

Karen said...

May I just say that, as I sit here reading your Teaser, I am wearing a T-shirt that has "Mrs. Darcy" emblazoned across the chest?

So I sent her an email back:

Thanks for stopping by my blog...please make sure that you return my t-shirt as there can only be one Mrs. Darcy and it is me!! (something along the lines of this because I can't find my sent email)

Today I received this:

Karen said...

My dear Miss Bingley--

I appreciate your recent correspondence. I realize that you had, in the past, hoped to become Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy. Unfortunately, as Mr. Darcy and I have already wed, it is perhaps time for you to let go your dreams and set your cap for some other fine gentleman, who, I am sure, will appreciate your many fine merits and accomplishments.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

I had the biggest laugh ever!!! Only fellow book geeks would get this....and it made my day!!! Guess I will have to settle for somebody else now that Darcy is off the market!!

Thanks for stopping by and reading this extremely long post!! The blogging community and especially that of book bloggers are some of the best people ever!!!!!

Ten Honest Things About Myself

I've been awarded and tagged by Jodi over at Moody Blue with the Honest Scrap Award.
Thanks Jodi!!!

The rules are simple, list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep! Then tag up to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap Award.

Well, I'll try to make it interesting but I have a hard time listing stuff about myself, but here I go!!!

  1. I get nostalgic and weepy very easy. Today I started to cry when I was talking to a co-worker about those little boys from the reality show Jon & Kate plus 8. The little boy's daddy called him, his "Maui Prince" or something like that and the little guy responded back to his dad, "Oh Daddy, please call me that all the time, I really like that name." Next thing I know I'm crying because I miss the days when my boys were 3 and 5. To me those were some of the best days of my life. I'm getting emotional right now!!
  2. I don't really like little kids. Only my own!! If they're not related to me then I don't have much patience with them. I'm bad....I'll admit it!
  3. I have many, many obsessive behaviors! I am constantly checking to make sure my wallet is in my purse even though I KNOW that it is because I just put it in there but that doesn't stop me asking my son to, "Check my purse, make sure my wallet is in it." I can't relax...I feel like I always have to be doing something. Even if I'm reading I will start laundy, dishes, and a million other projects and then I don't finish half of them!!
  4. I am a paper whore!! I like to scrapbook but I really believe that I just like buying pretty paper which I have no intention of never using.
  5. I love Spongebob Squarepants. I think he's hilarious. My favorite episode is where he and Patrick order a big screen television just so they can play in the box!! It cracks me up!
  6. I have a very strained relationship with my parents. And this is killing me inside.
  7. I want to send a postcard into Post Secrets because I need to tell a secret but without anyone knowing its me..just to get it off my heart.........maybe I should huh?
  8. While I was reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle my dog Bruce was sitting beside me and I would get all emotional about dogs and tell Bruce how much I loved him and I would pet him and rub his face and kiss his nose....A few days later my husband said to me, "Hey, do you know what your stupid ass dog has been doing outside?" Me- "Uh, no what?" Hubby- "He's following the cat around and has been digging up Pistol's shit and eating it!" Me-"Oh my God, I'm so gonna kill that stupid dog!!" Bruce comes into the house and I look in him the eyes and say, "Why the hell can't you be a Sawtelle dog? I'm going to kick you out into the cold, cold world if you eat cat crap again!! And if you were a Sawtelle dog you would do it!!" And at that moment I truly could've given him away.
  9. I get extremely stressed out if I realize that I've left my book somewhere!! One time I accidentally left my book at work, so when I got home and had time to read I couldn't find it anywhere.....even though I had plenty of other books to read, I was so distraught that I couldn't concentrate, so I went to bed. Can I tell you how relieved I was to find it on my desk the next morning? I did tell you that I was a little OCD, remember?
  10. I truly hate to cook. I know the MOM is suppose to nourish her family but I ask you..who's nourishing me?

Manic Monday and a nice shout-out from JonJon

Manic Monday #150

If you were to name the most creative outlet that you have, what would it be?

For me it would be scrapbooking. When I first got into it I was very anal about everything being perfect, then I went through a spell where I just did what I wanted. My biggest mistake was subscribing to magazines that tried to force down your throat that you A) needed their help B) they knew it all C) Your style sucked and theirs didn't and D) without these products your pages would look like poop. Needless to say, I have let all my subscriptions

lapse, I don't really look at scrap sites online anymore, and I do what makes ME happy!! I tell my stories for my children and my future grandchildren and no one else :)

What spot in your body would you say is the center of your emotional being?

My brain and my heart. One I'm really upset my whole body hurts, but I truly feel that my brain is the center of my emotional being.

What do you think is the secret to a tranquil soul?

Being at peace with the choices you've made in life.

And now I want to catch-up with an award that Jon

Jon at ...a dedication of love... gave to me last week. We're new friends with each other in the blog world and I just want to say that she's a sweetheart and I really enjoy reading her blog! So please take a moment and visit her!!

She awarded me the Butterfly Award

JonJon...Thank you so much!! And I would like to pass this award on to a few people.
Here are the rules:
This is a 'meme' award, so it gets passed on. The rules for passing it on are:
  1. Put the logo on your blog.
  2. Add a link to the person who awarded the blog to you.
  3. Award up to ten other blogs.
  4. Add links to the blogs you award onto your blog.
  5. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs.
I would like to pass this on to the following cool bloggers:

Now I'm off to catch up on blogs and then read more of Edgar Sawtelle!!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Butterfly Award

O.K. somebody pinch me...cuz I just won the Butterfly Award not once, but twice in one freaking day!!!!!!!!!!! As you see I'm not use to being a WINNER!!! But seriously, this was something that totally made my day when I saw the comments from these two lovely ladies.

Here's my cool award:

I want to give a big shout out to----- Bonnie, her blog Redlady's Reading Room is absolutely fantastic. I love it when I log on and see that she has a new post for me to read. Her book reviews are very informative, insightful, and spot-on. I've added a lot of new authors that I haven't heard of because of visiting her blog. The other person that I want to thank for awarding me The Butterfly is Lisa, she writes a blog titled, Books and Cooks. She too participates in a lot of meme's that I do and I always love seeing what she has to say about that particular topic of the meme. She also does a stand-out job reviewing books. I've picked up so many suggestions from her blog. So if you're stopping by here today reading my blog (of which I thank you for spending your valuable time reading this post!!) please click on the above links and add these 2 outstanding blogs to your reading, you will not be disappointed!!

So, I now have to follow the rules of this award and do the following:

This is a “meme” award, so it gets passed on. The rules for passing it on are:

1. Put the logo on your blog.

2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.

3. Award up to ten other blogs.

4. Add links to those blogs on yours.

5. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs.

I am passing this award on to:

Shannon at Shannon's Moments of Introspection

Jodi at Moody Blue

Joy at Joy's Blog

Kathy at My Space...my blog...my life...

These are some fun blogs to read and I hope that everyone takes a moment to check them out!!
