We share what we each picked up at the library during the week.
First off, I can't believe that it is December!!! Where has the time went???? This year has been my best reading year to-date. The reason for that is all of my blogging friends and their wonderful reviews and recommendations. I hope you all know that when I blame you for a book that it is all in fun!!?? My loot for this week is ridiculous, so much so, that I've decided to make it into two separate posts for a few reasons. One, I'm a little embarrassed by how many books that I've checked out, and two, I have a lot of blame to pass around!! This post will be dedicated to the books that others have suggested or reviewed. These books are all YOUR fault and I thank you!!!
The House on Tradd Street by Karen White- gothic feeling fiction!
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier- another gothic book and a classic to boot!!!
Murder on Nob Hill- a very cool sounding mystery series.
Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte- I love reading people's most intimate thoughts!!
Year of Ice- YA GLBT book .
Books Read in 2009 to date: 172
Number of Books Checked out from the library:26
Book Blogger Buddies Recommendations TBR List: 293 last week 297 this week
Hope you like Murder on Nob Hill and The House on Tradd Street. I can't beieve you've read 172 books this year! Impressive.
ReplyDeleteLol, great loot :D
ReplyDeleteAnd was ecstatic about my loot. Catching Fire, and returned it the very next day
You got some good loot! I really want to read The House on Tradd Street too! I met Karen White and she is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! I thoroughly enjoyed Rebecca when I read it 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a list! Every time I see this meme, I tell myself that I must return to the library! I've been wanting to reread "Rebecca," and "The House on Tradd Street" is one I've been hearing about.
ReplyDeleteRebecca is really good and I want to read the Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte.
ReplyDeleteI have read all of those except the Ice one (I am putting it on the list). I just returned from my library and this is what I got - South of Broad by Pat Conroy, Tears of Pearl by Tasha Alexander, Midnight Fugue by Reginald Hill(just love his mysteries), What would Jane Austen do by Laurie Brown, Cousin Kate and The Talisman Ring (read this before and it's very funn) by Georgette Heyer, Hand of Isis by Jo Graham (just loved her book Black Ships), Barefoot Contess back to basics (a girl has to eat), Creative Cloth Doll Beading (looked intriguing), and Mixed-media journals (what's a girl to do with all of the old and unloved books that people donate to the Friends of the Library used book store where I volunteer?) - just love your blog and your suggestions!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! Never be embarrassed at your loot.
ReplyDeleteI really hope you enjoy The House on Tradd Street!

Diary of an Eccentric
Looks like some great books Staci. I hope you get to read The House on Tradd Street, it's quite good. We should read Rebecca together, maybe then I'd actually get it read. lol.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've got some interesting titles again.....
ReplyDeleteI used to love reading Rebecca. I was always intrigued by the descriptions of the first Mrs. DeWinter's things and rooms. They seemed so elegant and perfect. As I read the book as a young, impressionable girl, I often the book stayed in my mind a long time after I read it.
Mmmmm... secret diaries of Charlotte Bronte, it will be interesting to see what that uncovers!
You got some good stuff! I'm starting "The House On Tradd Street" next.
