Today is Show and Tell
There's more to me than just books and reading, so today I felt like sharing another hobby of mine that I love to do, which is photography. I love to take pictures. When I get a camera in my hand I am a mad woman. Ask my two boys and my nieces and nephews. I've made them get dressed up and do "photo sessions" with me!! I love my digital camera because it allows me to takes hundreds of photos and burn them on cd's so that I can access them at any time. I've been "trying" to save a few dollars here and there to get myself the SLR camera of my dreams. For me taking photos is a form of self expression. I love taking photos of nature, kids, any activity they're participating in, my dog and cats, and every once in a while.....me!!
Here are some of my favorite photos:
I woke up one morning and there was all of this glorious white frost on everything. So I threw on my shoes, coat, grabbed my camera and ran outside. I crawled underneath one of our pine trees and just started taking pictures . I was actually trying to figure out depth-of-field. I still don't know how to do it!! I usually just point and shoot.
I love black and white photos. I think they are my absolute favorite. This is my niece with her brand new baby brother. It melts my heart!!
A few years ago the farmers planted wheat in the field behind my house. As I was sitting outside I realized how blue the sky was and that the contrast between the color of wheat and the sky was beautiful. So I ran into the house grabbed my camera and this is what I captured that day. I really love this one.

Great pics. I like B&W photos too. Love the wheat field pic. It looks like it may have been cold.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite talented with the camera! You should participate in Wordless Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the picture of the wheat field!! Kathy's right - you should do Wordless Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic. As you must know, I'm so jealous!!! And even when I take a decent picture, it only shows up blurry when I transfer it to the blog. I'm pretty hopeless, so I appreciate seeing some good pictures elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy taking photos too, but I do think I need a better camera!
ReplyDeleteStaci, those pics are gorgeous! Why have you been hiding this talent from us? I hope to see more of your visions soon. Taking great pictures needs more than just a point and shoot camera; you need to have an eye for detail and you, my dear, have it! Please share more with us.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I love snapping pix too, but I don't have your talent.
ReplyDeleteMy son does, though. He is a very creative photographer who lives in Europe. He likes to focus on the same kinds of things you've captured...ordinary moments that you spotlight in an interesting way.
I love all the pics, but especial of your niece and nephew. I am somewhat disppointed though over what you call "Show and Tell"... ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful glimpses....... I used to love show and tell at school. Glad you still keep up the tradition.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Beautiful photos! You are a woman of many talents :) I love your niece and the little brother. Very sweet!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these with us! I love learning something new about my book blogging friends and these pictures are wonderful :)
ReplyDeletethose are some lovely pictures, I especially like the wheat one. You should post some of your pictures from time to time. I'd enjoy that very much.
ReplyDeletegreat pictures! I need to remember to try my cameras black and white feature.

ReplyDeleteWow...they are GREAT! I love the last one in particular, but they're all so good!
ReplyDeleteawesome pictures! I have a Canon REbel xTi and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it to its full potential, 2 years later. :)
ReplyDeleteBooks and photography (and in Michigan) a woman with great taste in hobbies and places to live!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. I especially like the black and white shot of your niece. So sweet! Digital cameras are great because you can just keep on shooting without worrying about getting the film developed.
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderfully glorious :) We need a new camera. Now I need to start researching. Which one are you saving up to get and why?
ReplyDeleteThese photos are amazing. They are among my favorites I've seen you take. I can't believe my baby boy used to be that little. That baby doesn't even look like Simon Cooper. Simon did know it was him though...he's smart like his mamma.
ReplyDeleteAll three of these are beautiful, Staci!
ReplyDeleteStaci, your photos are just beautiful. I love to take pictures as well. Hope you keep sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are just great Staci. The frost on the tree branches awesome. The wheat field, and loved the B/W shot as well; thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Staci, I adore the B&W photo of your niece & nephew, and stunning contrast of colours in the wheat field photo.
ReplyDeletePhotography & Scrapbooking go hand in hand I reckon. Thanks for sharing ~ I'd like to see more!
These photos are beautiful. B&W photos just make things more romantic or something. I used to work in a camera store ages ago, and we always took B&W photos of each other, you know when we were supposed to be working.
ReplyDeleteI like the wheat field the best. The contrast between the sky and the field.
Thanks for sharing your hidden talents with us Staci! Your pictures are beautiful. I hope that you post more. I'd love to know what camera you have and what SLR you are hoping to get. I would love to expand my own photography skills and we desperately need a new digital camera.
ReplyDeleteStacybuckeye: I've been thinking about the Nikon D40 only because it is more afforable and easier to slide into. I really don't need fancy features just the ability to take awesome action shots of my son during football, track, wrestling...that kind of stuff!!
ReplyDeleteOh Staci! I'm in love, love, love with all three of these shots! Oh please, please, please share more! I think we may have some of the same DNA in us or something...we're just passionate about so many of the same things!!! Then again, maybe not the same DNA, as I am nowhere near that talented with a camera! Thanks so much for sharing these...you've put such a smile on my face!
