Six Sentence Saturday

6 Sentence Saturday Reviews

I've been trying to think of a clever way to get my reviews done and posted in a timely manner. After months of thinking I finally decided that I would do really short, to the point reviews!! This way I could try to get caught up on the books I've read but not written about. So, every Saturday I'm going to sit down and talk about the books that I've read this year, using only 6 sentences!!!!. At the end of each review I will post a rating scale of 1-5 using the cute and original (lol) Playing Cards. Rating scale will be as follows:

5 of Hearts- You must read this book NOW!!
4 of Hearts- A great read, put it on your TBR list.
3 of Hearts- Glad I read but no big deal

2 of Hearts- Why did I finish this?
Joker Card - Don't bother (why did I?)

I hope you enjoy this new feature on my blog....tell me your thoughts!! Did you like it? Should I add a short synopsis of the books? What could I do to make it better. Be gentle :)

The Accidental Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer Book 1.) by Angie Fox
Genre: Paranormal/Romance
**I have read other paranormal romance books and found them to be very enjoyable. I liked the main character Lizzie. What I didn't really enjoy was the grandmother...overkill on the character. Not sure about the whole biker witch storyline either. But I am sure that I like the shape-shifting griffin Dimitri!!! I will read the next one to see if it gets better!

I wanted to really feel like I would die if I couldn't get to the next one...didn't happen. But remember this is just my opinion!

Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers (Demon Slayer Book 2.) by Angie Fox
Genre: Paranormal/Romance
** The premise of book 2 was a bit better than the first one. I wish that the author would've developed Lizzie's uncle's character a little bit more. The sex is very steamy in this one!! I still do not care for the biker witches....frustrating. The soul-stealing succubi were a nice twist to the story. However, I believe that I'm more interested in what her talking Jack Russell, Pirate does than almost anything else in this book!!!

I wanted to really like it more but I just couldn't. But you may....don't take my word for it!!

Vibes by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Genre: YA
** I'm still not totally sure if I liked the main character Kristi....I keep going back and forth on that. I did like the idea of her "thinking" she had the ability to read other people's minds. I felt sorry for her because her dad is shallow and selfish. The love story was sweet and I think it would appeal to a lot of teens in that respect. I picked this up because I thought the cover was fresh and fun. In the end, the story was o.k. but I didn't feel any real connection with any of the characters.

Remember, this is just my opinion..you may like it better than I did.

  2. This is great! Sometimes I don't have time to read an entire review, which is unfortunate but reading these short ones is no problem. Also, I don't think you need a summary - from your reviews I get the sense of what the books are about anyway.

  3. I love your ratings scale. I've been working one out in my head, but I keep just wanting to copy Raych's caterpillers (books i done read.)

I like the cover on that third one as well.

  4. Good idea. That's all the info I want about a book before I read it. Longer reviews spoil some of the surprises I find.
Funny enough I've just posted a POLL about rating systems. Hope you will pop over and vote. I'm torn about what to use.

  5. Great idea. I like it. I've been thinking about a rating scale along the lines of movie ratings. Also thinking that since I've read 100 books now, only reviewing the review books and those that really resonate with me, instead of every single one.

  6. I love this. Short sweet and to the point. Some reviews I see in the blog world are just too long and I don't take the time to read them all the way through. This is great!

  7. Love the new system. The cards help. I loving knowing if you liked the book so I know if should add it or not. Some reviews can be lengthy and not really tell you much about the readers thoughts about the book. Keep it short and sweet. Of course there will be some books you want to write essays about :)

  9. What a fun new way to review those books that you have not had a chance to write extended reviews for. Honestly, for lots of so so books this system seems perfect.

    Such a smartie!

  10. I like your idea, tho once I start writing about a book, I have a hard time stopping at just a few sentences. But there is hope yet...
I like the idea of a brief summary of what the book is all about.

  11. It's a great idea Staci! Boy I wish I could do something like this but I always have way too much to say to put it into a few sentences. lol. I'm good either way but I do like the more detailed reviews I read as well. It really depends on the book being reviewed.

  12. Oh Staci, I totally LOVE these!!!! And somehow I'm guessing they were sort of fun to do, am I right?

On the down side, I'm sorry you didn't have a single book this week that wowed you.

  13. What a great idea, Staci! I don't read fast enough for something like to be a practical feature on my blog, but I really like the idea.

And I love your card rating system. :-)

  14. Love the card idea, the joker and 3of hearts, no big deal cracked me up! Sorry no 'full house' for you on those reads!!

  15. I like this idea Staci! I think a short synopsis would add a bit more info. I think that this can definitely work for some books but maybe not all. Love the cards and rating system as well.

  16. I like your new system and I like the use of the playing cards - very cute! Sometimes I only want a short/sweet review, however, I agree with Dar, for me, it depends on the book. Great job!

  17. Very cute, sweet, and to the point!
I procrastinate over my reviews because I feel like I have to have these in-depth reviews and/or analysis. Must remeber I read for fun!

This is a great idea and I'm going to work on it. Sorry some of these books were not all that great. I hate that!

  18. Neat idea for reviews. A biker witch? Now that's something I haven't heard before!
