What a difference a week can make? My picture from last week was of a winter wonderland and seven days later you'll notice not a snowflake in sight. Instead we had 60mph+ winds all night long and torrential downpours into the late evening. My husband drove to the northern part of Michigan last night where he experienced blizzard conditions and near whiteouts on the highway. We never lost our power and for that I'm grateful.
However, my thoughts and concerns are with my fellow Americans who have been ravaged by Mother Nature this week with tornadoes and weather conditions that put fear in your heart! I hope that Mother Nature has decided to take a break and give those in the southern states a chance to start assessing the damage and try to make sense of the chaos. I'm keeping them all in my prayers!
There has definitely been some scary weather. Thankfully, all we've had here is torrential downpours.
ReplyDeleteI hope your weather has improved. Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a week makes is right. That is a lovely shot with or without snow. Yes, those poor people in MO who lost so much, but at least no one died.
ReplyDeleteWe lost our snow from last week too. Until yesterday afternoon. Now we have several inches of the wet, heavy snow - the kind that breaks tree branches. I'm hoping we don't lose any.
ReplyDeleteIt's nothing compared to what people in the tornado paths experienced this week. Just heartbreaking to see all the damage.
Wow, big difference! We're getting the horrible winds here too. Our power went out yesterday evening for about three hours.
ReplyDeleteWhile we just have wind, no snow, here - my husband is looking at the snowcams up north. West Branch north have about 2 ft. on the ground right now.
ReplyDeleteTornados that you got freak me out, I am very glad that we do not got them here. Just blizzards, and they are nothing
ReplyDeleteAll that snow came our way! And yes, those poor folks in Kentucky, Ohio, and indiana have been dealt a cruel blow! I'm hoping they get some of the calm that your picture reflects...
ReplyDeleteWeather is definitely scary. Tornadoes frighten me the most as they seem to come out of no where and wreck enormous devastation. I love your photo especially the ominous looking sky.
ReplyDeleteI love that you put in the caption info about the photo. And wow, what a difference in a week, you're right!
ReplyDeleteI agree. The weather has been scary this week, and so early in the year. We live in Columbus, which so far has avoided the tornadoes. My daughter is in school in upstate New York and they use tornado sirens as their regular fire sirens. It frightens her everytime. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about all the bad weather people are having. We will be moving into hurricane season in the next few months - the time of year I most dread.
ReplyDeleteWe have mostly had rain this winter the ground hasn't frozen so hopefully the ground has absorbed most of the water. It's been a scary weather year, so much destruction.
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
I don't know if my last comment made it, sorry for the duplicate.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been extreme from about a year now... it's humbling, and scary at times.
Stay safe!
We experienced those conditions over here as well. The thunder and lightening was scary. Thankfully, we did not lose power.
ReplyDeleteOh, you really captured the essence of the "before and after" moments. I feel cold just looking at this photo, even more so than the snowy one. Which is odd.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the whiteness of the snow looks like a blanket....
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
We are having incredible winds at the moment forecasted to continue all weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with power failures.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Saturday Snapshot of warmer, sunnier times!

That's a terrific picture - so much contrast and so moody!
ReplyDeleteLoving the photo.... and I am praying for those affected in the midwest... scary weather ....
ReplyDeleteThe faded edges do make that shade of blue seem more vivid and a bit eerie.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're all safe. It has been awful weather out there and my hearts go out to those who have lost family and belongings. I'll take my snow any day over that.
ReplyDeleteThat sky does have an ominous look. We got the winds but not the damage. Fortunately we missed most of the snow and the tornadoes. The weather has certainly become more violent the past few years.
ReplyDeleteI was watching about the weird weather in the states on the news today. They were saying they might beat the monthly average for tornadoes in one day. We are really having some strange weather...
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteWe've had an unusual winter here in Nova Scotia, too, but still have lots of snow left on the ground from a couple of weeks ago. Although I'm longing for spring, I think I prefer our weather to yours.
I like that you showed us two versions of the same scene. Maybe a Sprimg and Summer shot in the future?
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference, indeed!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed looking at the photograph!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday
Snapshot post!
The colors [amazing] and the juxtaposition of the branches in the foreground -- really really nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, here in Canada, spring can not come too soon, either.
All the best.

I really like this
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo but crazy weather we're all having. Those in the US ravaged by tornadoes and back here we're experiencing flooding and cyclones ... heartbreaking :(
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful and yet gloomy photo . . . My heart is going out to those impacted by the bad weather too. It's so terrible.
ReplyDeleteWow. Neat shot!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture.
ReplyDeleteSo late to the party with this one... but that photo looks very ominous!! Dark and gloomy but I love it.
ReplyDeleteWOW... this is a wonderful shot!
