Taken this morning approx. 8:10 am in my front yard |
Winter has been odd here in Michigan with temperatures in the 40s throughout the month of January and the first weeks of February. I can't tell you how happy I was this morning to wake up to about 4-5 inches that had fallen over the night. The wind was howling during the early morning hours and so we actually have drifts of snow!! I think I am in a small minority of people who wish for a cold and snowy winter. If we don't have significant snowfall, our rivers and lakes won't be replenished and the mosquitos could be big enough to put saddles on this spring...not fun! So I'm hoping that this is the signal that winter has arrived and that I will wake up to many more snowdrifts!!!
You were happy for the snow? I've been thrilled that we're having a balmy winter and have been whining because it's only supposed to hit 45 today.
ReplyDeleteI think it has arrive, here too. I'm thinking my garden will be so thirsty if we don't get a bit more snow. It look lovely this morning, even if the winds are howling. A good day to stay in and enjoy the brightness.
ReplyDeleteI love love love that photo Staci!!!
ReplyDeleteSO far so good here... its been cold the last couple of days but hardly any snow and I am happy about that!
ReplyDeleteWOW - so pretty Staci. Our winter has been weird and warm as well. Last night we were suppose to get 1-3" of snow, but just a dusting is all we saw.
ReplyDeleteOur winter has been mild—and I know that it's always milder than yours—but I've enjoyed it, even while I realize that, without significant rainfall, there will be problems later.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beautiful snow picture.
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
Winter has been teasing us here.. 1-3 inches this morning ended up being 1/2 inch.
ReplyDeleteSo jeaous... I can't wait to snowshoe. Enjoy!
What a lovely picture, and so glad you got your wish for snow. It's funny how different our lives are....today here in N.O. it is sunny and crisp cool with bright pink and violet azaleas blooming in my garden! We're all saying, ahhh, SPRING is finally here! ha! Enjoy your winter wonderland!
ReplyDeleteYou received more than us! We got about 2 inches, but it is cold!!
ReplyDeleteWe're in the deep freeze here this weekend with more snow supposed to be coming this next week. I don't mind one or the other but I hate when you can't run to get out of the cold because it's slick!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow fall because I'm predicting that this is the height of winter for us in the Midwest, of course, I'm no groundhog! Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteYes, the snow! Isn't it wonderful? We got a bunch over night too.
ReplyDeletePretty photo, it has greeting card charm. We had an inch or two of snow last night and howling winds but it's going to melt off in a few days, which doesn't bother me at all. I'm just not much of a cold weather person.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel about the rain here in Oregon too! I miss the sun desperately in the winter, but things are so much better if we get a normal amount of rain. Plus, I love the sound of the rain on a stormy night, as long as I'm inside that is. :)
ReplyDeleteNever thought I'd want some real snow like we got last night, but I kinda like it, especially since the day is sunny!
ReplyDeleteI love this one!! Beautifully serene. We used to worry about the reservoir level up north too and hoped for rain and snow even though we didn't like to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteWe've got similar weather and I am headed for Detroit tomorrow! Really glad I decided to fly rather than drive. Your yard looks lovely, though.
ReplyDeleteSaturday Snapshot
Beautiful photo, Staci. We've had the same weather in Wisconsin that you've had. Very different winter this year. We got two inches of snow yesterday with the wind and now the temps are frigid. Winter!!
ReplyDeleteLovely winter photo. As someone else mentioned, It's best to have the snow now. And I'll add that I don't want snow in April or May.
ReplyDeleteWinter is here too today. Wind chill is -10. They were saying on the news last week that summer allergies would be terrible if we didn't get some good cold weather this winter. I was thinking the fleas and ticks would be bad too. I guess winter has it's purpose even if it makes us uncomfortable!
ReplyDeleteA very strange and mild winter here, too, but it's snowing now!
ReplyDeleteWe got some snow too, but not that much and I have a feeling it is all going to be melted soon enough
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when we did not have snow for xmas, so yes I need snow too :=
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture. Makes me want to be there and I don't even like being in the snow. :)
ReplyDeleteWell it looks pretty as long as it's at someone else's place. lol. It's still gorgeous here and I'm hoping it lasts clear till spring. I'm glad you're enjoying your snowfall!
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to get snow. We had some yesterday and there's more in tonight's forecast. I'll take it any day over the subzero temps we had last weekend!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Staci! I was so happy to see the snow. And just as happy to see the sunshine today :)
