Library Loot- January 13

Hosted by Eva at A Striped Armchair and Marg at Reading Adventures.
We share what we each picked up at the library during the week.

Saturdays are a bad day for me to go to the library. Why? Because I feel no stress to be anywhere else or to rush home to fix dinner, laundry, or tend to anything pressing. So what happens???? I have a lot of time to browse which in turn results in me bringing home more books!! But I do want you to know that I talked myself out of checking out 2 more! ! I've got a little bit of willpower...not much, but just enough!

Here's what I dragged in the door:

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
** I've read some great reviews on this one and seriously felt like I had to GET IT NOW!

The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir
**For some reason I'm on an Elizabeth kick again!!!

The Virgin's Daughters: in the court of Elizabeth by Jeane Westin
** I mentioned above my Elizabeth I obsession...so when I stumbled on this one I had to get it. The story of Elizabeth told through the eyes of two ladies-in-waiting.

The Nature of Jade by Deb Caletti
** The Stark Raving Bibliophile wrote an incredible review of this book and immediately prompted me to request this from the library!! it's about a young girl who suffers from Panic Disorder....having that problem myself I thought this would be a great read.

Stitches: a memoir by David Small
** Graphic novel that I just had to get my hands on. I'm always fascinated by stories of kids coming from horrible lives/circumstances and making it through to the other side. Told in graphic novel form only makes the story that much more interesting to me.

Books Read in 2010 to date: 8

  1. Great looking books--especially Beautiful Creatures and Stitches! I know what you mean about having no pressure on Saturdays at the library--I tend to bring in more than I should to my home!

  3. Given how many people love Beautiful Creatures, I'd say it's a must read! I know I'll be taking it out as soon as my library has a copy.

  6. Oooh, I want Stitches!!! Hope you love it! Actually I hope you love them all. :)
I have to admit that I really don't know much about Panic Disorder...maybe this book would be a good way to start educating myself about it? Don't you love it that fiction can do that?!!

  7. Sounds like you got a lot of great books. Stiches sounds really good. At least you didn't come out of the library with a copy paper box full of books like I did last night.

  9. I still have to read Beautiful Creatures. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on that one. Those Elizabeth books sound really good as well. I have an obsession with past royalty figures. :)

  11. I spent an hour at the library yesterday. I don't participate in Library Loot because it would be embarrassing. As an employee I don't pay late fines. Do you know how much leeway this gives me?! I never have less than 20 things checked out. It's a sickness.

  14. I know what you mean about Saturdays, no pressure, and excess books being checked out from the library. Now that I'm retired every day is a Saturday but the bags of books I bring home are staggering! (That wasn't a serious complaint.)

I'm interested in hearing about Stitches. I'm looking for a good one for my second graphic novel.
