I'm too embarrassed to make excuses, so here's my loot!!! But I will still be blaming others for my little problem...didn't think I'd let you off the hook that easy did you????
Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict
by Laurie Viera Rigler
All blame goes right to DAR!!! Plus, it didn't hurt that I loved Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict.
The Apothecary's Daughter
by Julie Klassen
Margaret, from Creative Madness, is new to my blame game. But it is her fault that I noticed this book. Why, you ask? If I had never read her wonderful review I wouldn't have been familiar with the title!! Makes perfect sense to me.
Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously
by Julie Powell
The blame goes to Bonnie of Redlady's Reading Room. After reading her review, I knew that I wanted to read this book. The movie looks pretty fun too!! Has anyone seen it yet? Did you like it?
Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen
by Susan Gregg Gilmore
Kathy from Bermuda Onion gets the honor of the blame on this one!! Her blog is fantastic and it seems like we really have a similar taste in books. After reading her thoughts on this one I immediately went to my online library catalog and requested this one.

Juliet, Naked
by Nick Hornby
September 2009
I like his way with words...can't wait to read this one!
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Annie loves Duncan—or thinks she does. Duncan loves Annie, but then, all of a sudden, he doesn’t. Duncan really loves Tucker Crowe, a reclusive Dylanish singer-songwriter who stopped making music ten years ago. Annie stops loving Duncan, and starts getting her own life.
In doing so, she initiates an e-mail correspondence with Tucker, and a connection is forged between two lonely people who are looking for more out of what they’ve got. Tucker’s been languishing (and he’s unnervingly aware of it), living in rural Pennsylvania with what he sees as his one hope for redemption amid a life of emotional and artistic ruin—his young son, Jackson. But then there’s also the new material he’s about to release to the world: an acoustic, stripped-down version of his greatest album, Juliet—entitled, Juliet, Naked. What happens when a washed-up musician looks for another chance? And miles away, a restless, childless woman looks for a change? Juliet, Naked is a powerfully engrossing, humblingly humorous novel about music, love, loneliness, and the struggle to live up to one’s promise.
What book are you waiting for?
U crack me UP!!!!! I think I need to intervene with the victim mentality support group!!! LOL!!!! Always blaming someone else for your book loot!!! LOL! :):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteI hope to see Julie & Julia this weekend, and was lucky to win a copy of the book from Frances at Nonsuch Book!

ReplyDeleteLOL-you are so funny. Rude Awakenings is so good. I won Julie & Julia. I was going to start it yesterday but was too tired. I hope to today. Happy Reading......
ReplyDeleteNeed that first book! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy reading, those are some excellent choices
I feel a lot of pressure now! I hope you enjoy Dairy Queen as much as I did!
ReplyDeleteThat Nick Hornby looks good. I really like his non-fiction, but haven't had much luck with his fiction. I will have try again one of these days!
ReplyDeleteGreat loot. I love the movie so I can't wait to hear what you think of the book.
ReplyDeleteSquee! A new Nick Hornby book. Yeah!
I just got my copy of Julie & Julia yesterday. You know me, if it has to do with food I love it! Hope you like it too.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of title around that are based on Jane Austen, I wonder if they are any good. Well at least your little habit isn't bad for your health--unless you stay up all night reading.
ReplyDeleteRude Awakenings was really good, I hope you'll enjoy it too! :) Dairy Queen is on my list of book to read, too, I'll be curious to hear your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteSo, uh you own that Julie & Julia? Or is it from your library?
ReplyDeleteYou are my favorite Sister-In-Law you know, right??!!?!
I'm definitely looking forward to Juliet, Naked too!
ReplyDeleteI bought Julie & Julia but let my daughter read it first since I was reading something else. She loved it. I can't wait to see the movie and read the book, and I don't care which comes first. There's a great review of the movie, and about Julia Child here, Staci:

I love Nick Hornby, so also look forward to this book. Thanks for writing about it.
After I came back from the film, I found out that I won a copy of Julie and Julia from Frances. Woohoo! I think the film is well done although it's not without flaw. Julie is not easy to like but she perseveres til the end. :)
ReplyDeleteI've got Julie and Julia on my reading list for next week, sposed to be fantastic so can't wait. Might have to check out The Apothecary's Daughter, I like the cover lol. Enjoy your books :-)
ReplyDelete21 books from the library - wow! I hope they give you enough time to keep them so you can read them all!
ReplyDeleteI also want to read the Dairy Queen book after reading the review at Bermudaonion, and also am interested in Rude Awakenings and Confessions. So many good books out there!!!
I still haven't read any of Hornby's fiction. Really must remedy that.
ReplyDeleteI read Waiting for Salvation at the Dairy Queen and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fantastic books! The new Nick Hornby looks good. Can you believe I haven't read him yet? I saw the movie High Fidelity and that is as close as I've come.
ReplyDeleteThe Apothecary's Daughter looks amazing. I feel like I may have seen it somewhere a long while back but I have no idea where.
Staci -- On my blog we are having a discussion of Julie and Julia on August 30th -- I would love it if you could join us!
