Mailbox Monday and a Monday Musing

Mailbox Monday
is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page.
We share what books that we found in our mailboxes last week.

Any day I get books in the mail is a great day....this past week I was lucky to get two books that I won!!!

Mating Rituals of the North American Wasp
by Lauren Lipton
** won this one from Anna-Diary of an Eccentric
I've seen this everywhere and am so excited to have won my own copy!!!!!

Cycler
by Lauren McLaughlin
**This one came courtesy of Lenore of Presenting Lenore.
Being a middle school librarian, I adore YA, so when I won this book I was over the moon. I'm going to read this during the summer and then pass it on to one of my favorite students ever, who will be a freshman in the fall.

What came for you?

Do you restrict yourself on how many books you take out from the library at a time Do you borrow books if you already have some out? Do you always reborrow books you don’t get to?

As I stated above, I work in a middle school library. So when this topic came up I just had to add my own two cents to it. Especially because libraries have always played an important part in my life since I was 5. I normally don't restrict myself to a certain number of books that I check out. I probably should because my pile has been out of control. I'm working on that!! :) I always borrow books, regardless if I still have some at home. This is part of my book addiction that I'm working on...seriously, I am! If the books I'm reading have been already renewed once and I STILL don't get them read, sometimes I do recheck them out..AGAIN. Olive Kitteridge is one that I swear I've checked out so many times this year and I still haven't read it. But I am going to get it done before June 29th!!!! I must or else I will have to buy it!!!

  3. Interesting covers on both of those books! I always seem to have a book or two out from the library even if I don't get to read them. I like to get cookbooks also to look through and decide if they're worth buying! Love the new look of your blog and the header picture. Of course, I love the quote as A Tree Grows In Brooklyn is one of my most favorite books!!

  5. I really want to read Mating Rituals!
I've had to check out books numerous times too - and still haven't gotten around to them. I think I've checked out Tully at least 3 separate times and still haven't gotten past the first chapter!

  8. Well you know I can check out too many from the library. I do take books back unread. So sad! I have no restraint.

  9. LOL! on checking books out for so long you feel like you should buy them. I wonder if our library would let you do that. I think after a certain time they just send you a bill for the book. Looks like some interesting reads :)

  10. I just brought Olive Kitteridge home from the library and hopefully, it won't go back unread, but with 30 books out someone's going back unread. But wait, I forgot, the lovely renew button!! :o)

  12. No restrictions on how many books I take out, as long as I can carry them (sometimes I remember to take my library bag along, usually it's left in the closet -- chagrin.

Yep, I'm known to have books due on several different days, which sometimes gets me into trouble, esp. if I've misplaced the print out with the dates due. (I look at library fines as my way of making sure there's a cash flow for new books -- ha ha!

And yes, I will sometimes reborrow the book if I haven't gotten to it. Sometimes, I realize just take it back because something new's already caught my eye.

  13. I think you'll love Mating Rituals Staci. At least I hope you will. I did. I still borrow from the library although not half as many as I did before. I still think it's really important to support the library so I donate books and do take out some along with movies, etc.

  16. Oh how I would love to work in a library! When I was young I wanted to grow up and own my own book shop...I still do! lol

  17. I still borrow books from the library even though I have a huge TBR pile. I can only renew them once though, and I can't renew brand new books. Which is fair enough I suppose since we have 3 weeks to read them. Still, I'll bring them back late if I'm not finished reading and pay the fine!

  18. Nice haul in your mailbox this week. Dating Rituals is on my wishlist too.
I am the same when it comes to the library, I check out whatever catches my eye and I have been known to return and recheck out the same book numerous times :D. You're not alone.

  19. I've usually got books from two separate libraries lying around, so the trick becomes remembering what's due back when.
