This isn't an April Fool's Day joke...I've been naughty!! I can't stop myself from adding books to my bedside pile and so here they are:
Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
--I can't blame this book on anyone except Laurie. She's one of my ultimate favorite authors ever!! I've been so jealous of all the other people who had the opportunity to read this before it was published and when I walked out of the library with it Saturday, I danced to my car and sang a little ditty to myself, "I've got Wintergirls and I can't wait to read it. I've got Wintergirls and I can't wait to read it." Yes, I'm that weird.
The Bright Forever by Lee Martin
- I was just browsing (dangerous thing to do) and the title caught my eye. Pulled it out, loved the cover, and thought the synopsis sounded good. If you've read this let me know what you thought about it.
The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond
- I again was browsing around the shelves and figured I had enough books when I looked up and saw the title screaming at me, "Hey Staci, this is that book you wanted to read really bad but you were too poor to buy it that time at Barnes & Noble. Grab it now!!" So I did. Have you read this? And if so, what did you think?
Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork
- finally, I get to blame someone for a book. This one is being blamed on Amanda at A Patchwork of Books. I already had this listed to read after reading about it in Junior Library Guild. But the deal was solidified by Amanda's review.
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
--Lenore at Presenting Lenore did a smashing review of this book. When she says it's good I listen! This one is her fault entirely!
The Latent Powers of Dylan Fontaine by April Lurie
--I'm blaming this one on Chris from stuff as dreams are made on because he said he wanted to hug this book!! I've felt like that many times, in fact, I've kissed quite a few books in my day!
What did you bring home from the library?
To Read List Total today 4/1/2009 : 670
Last week's To Read List Total 3/25/2009: 651
Books Read in 2009 to date: 41
I love your reasoning behind The Year of Fog. And I just can.not imagine you kissing a book. You are a FOOL! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like quite the assortment you came home with this week. I'm heading to the library tonight. I have a few things waiting for me to add to the few things already sitting here at home. lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that your library has If I Stay!
ReplyDeleteI really liked The Latent Powers of Dylan Fontaine! There are a couple others on there I want to read, but the library has to get them first...
ReplyDeleteStaci, Sounds like another interesting pile of books.... have fun!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! You got Dylan! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I've been coveting Marcelo in the Real World but my library doesn't have it :( I'll just have to buy that one! And I'm dying to read Wintergirls! I'm third in line for that one right now.
ReplyDeleteSo many of those are books I want to read! Especially Marcelo in the Real World.
ReplyDeleteI read The Year of Fog earlier this year and I really liked it. The ending was a bit underwhelming in some ways but I loved what the author had to say about the power of photography and memories. I hope you'll enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I need to check on some of these other books because those titles on some of them sound very good to me :)
Interesting stack of books Staci!
ReplyDeleteI have The Year of Fog on my TBR shelf and loved her newest book
No One you know. I'll be interested in what you think of The Bright Forever. I read this with my book club and none of us liked it. I didn't like it at all, reminded me a lot of The Lovely Bones. If you you read and liked The Lovely Bones you may like this. I don't mean to sway you, I had strong feelings about this one the characters and story line were creepy to me. Everyone has different tastes and you may like it.
Great picks my friend!! Girl, weren't you in the 500s two weeks ago?? LOL! You crack me up!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what you think of The Year of Fog. It sounds sooooo good.

Diary of an Eccentric
LOL! You found some good ones even if you were "bad" (which isn't possible when it comes to libraries) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLook at all those books! You'll be busy for awhile. :-) I hope you enjoy them, Staci.
ReplyDeleteThe Bright Forever is creepy/morbid and devastating, but I found it a fantastic read and wonderfully done. I hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteThe Year of Fog is great. I really enjoyed that one. Beautiful and thoughtful writing.
