Beach Road- Bookish Thoughts #40

What Beach Road is about:
Tom Dunleavy has a one-man law firm in the wealthy resort town of East Hampton. But his job barely keeps him in paper clips because the local rich people already have their own lawyers. Then a friend of Tom's is arrested for a triple murder near a movie star's mansion. Tom knows in his gut that Dante Halleyville is innocent. Now representing Dante is what could be the Trial of the Century, Tom recruits Manhattan superlawyer Kate Costello to help. With the entire nation's eyes on him, Tom orchestrates a series of revelations to expose the killer. And what emerges is staggering --- and will shock everyone.

I spent four hours on the beach waiting for my husband and our friends to get back from Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and this book helped those hours fly right by. It was a great summer beach read and worth the .50 cents that I paid for it. The story was fast and furious and the ending made me growl with madness, especially because I never saw it coming!! If you enjoy Patterson's books then this one would be a great addition to the beach bag....

Source: purchased at library sale
Reason for reading it: Because it had the word Beach in the title and it was only .50 cents!

  1. That plot doesn't sound familiar but I could have sworn I read this one several years ago. I'm wondering if I have it confused with another one of Patterson's books. His books are perfect for the beach.

  2. Growl in a good way or frustrated way? Sounds like it the perfect book for you as you waited for your hubby and friends!

  4. I do the same thing... buy a book because of the word beach being in it, LOL!

  5. Probably the same reason I bought the book at our library sale - Beach and cheap! Glad you enjoyed it. I just looked it up at GR to see my rating ( 'cuz you know I can't remember stuff off the top of my head) and I rated it a 3 too.

  6. That is sort of a riot to sit on the beach and read "Beach Road"! Dante Halleyville is quite the name. I love how these authors come up with these bizarre names!

  7. Funny. When I first started to type my comment, I was going to say that I haven't read anything by this author but then I took a good look at the synopsis and realized that I HAD read this exact book! It was a page turner. I was in a rented beach condo and it was sitting on the shelf. It was good for that purpose (vacay reading).

  8. Like Kathy, I thought I'd read this one, too, but the plot was not familiar at all. Guess I'm going to have to check it out. It sounds fabulous.

  11. I could definitely see enjoying this if I were on the beach or in an airport trying to kill time.

  12. Patterson's books definitely are page turners. I think I've given up on him though; stopped reading the Women's Murder Club series after book 9...but maybe I'll catch up with it someday.

  15. It has been such a long time since I read anything by this author. I really need the time to go back and read some of his books. I always feel overwhelmed though since he has SO MANY books! Glad you enjoyed this one!

  16. I'm not a Patterson fan, but I do read him on occasion and he is very good at making pages fly by!

  17. I remember reading this one and being really engrossed in it but getting frustrated when it just started to feel like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Now, maybe if I had read it on the beach, I would have liked it more! But I did like the ending!
