My Thoughts: I am hopelessly addicted to all things Austen, and while this wasn't the best spin-off that I've ever read, it was still a very good book for me! I loved the idea of attending an Austen seminar for a week at Oxford, no less. For some reason I really understood Claire and her need to take care of everyone but herself. I was also drawn into the idea of there being an unpublished copy of First Impressions. Wouldn't that be beyond belief if you were to hold a copy of that in your very own hands, knowing that Jane Austen's pen graced those very pages???? I noticed that this one only averaged 3.29 on Goodreads, but I'm basing my final number (4/5) solely on how much I enjoyed this story and how I could so easily envision myself as Claire, looking for my Mr. Darcy.
Recommended for Austen fans!!
Thank you to Phenix & Phenix for sending me a review copy.
I was not compensated for my review.
My thoughts on this book were in no way influenced by the author.
They are my personal reflections based solely on MY experience while reading this novel.
Glad to read that you enjoyed this one - I have just been looking at it in our local bookstore - so your post is most serendipidous (or however you spell it)!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday and thanks for sharing
Hannah

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one, too, especially when Claire was reading the first manuscript. I thought it was hilarious how pages of it would turn up here and there in places you wouldn't expect 200-year-old pages to be!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you really enjoyed it.
Awww Austen! Yes I am also hopelessly addicted
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this book. It's hard not to like all things Austen!
ReplyDeleteI am addicted as well, but haven't read this one yet, but I think Anna has it...so maybe I'll borrow it for the austen challenge!
ReplyDeleteI am so going to get this book :)
ReplyDeletei love the cover!
ReplyDeletei also love all things austen so i'm definitely going to get this book.
Claire sounds like a lot of women who put their needs behind everyone else's. I love the cover of this book, so I'm glad to see it's good.
ReplyDeleteI like other books this author has written plus I love all things Austen. So this one is on my list. But - the main reason I'd get this book is the cover. The color of the dress is so beautiful
ReplyDeleteI'll have to read this one--nice review
ReplyDeleteI love the title and cover of this one. Good review!
ReplyDeleteI don't read many of the Austen spin-offs, but I just love this cover and it tempts me :)
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely not alone in loving all things Austen! I really enjoyed this book too, even though I was a teeny bit frustrated by the ending. I'm eager to read Pattillo's other novel as well.
ReplyDeleteNice review!
I have this book and also the one before it - JANE AUSTEN RUINED MY LIFE or something like that. I'll get to them eventually. Love the cover. That's a beautiful dress.
ReplyDeleteI do like the sound of that Austen seminar!
ReplyDeleteA bit of a differnt kind of spin-off so I would read it too. Lovely review and I'll go to Oxford with you :)
ReplyDeleteCool. Great review. I am not an Austen fan but only because I have never read any! I know!
ReplyDeleteBut I do love the cover of this one!
I'm not a huge Austen fan, but this sounds like a fun read. Great review Staci.
ReplyDeleteOh, I so adore the new "peek-a-boo" kitty!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a verry interesting book. Glad you enjoyed it. The only Jane Austin spin off I've read is Flirting with Mr. Darcym which I enjoyed too.
ReplyDeleteGreat review. I can totally relate with the excitement you described at wondering what it would be like to hold an early Jane Austen...the book, Jane Austen Ruined my life had a similar occurrence in it. The character in that book had secret letters written by Austen. It would be amazing to hold something that had her hand writing on it.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great review. I know you can't always count on what the review numbers are.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read this for a while now. Thanks for the great review.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Staci! This sounds like such a great story and I love the cover!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you liked this one. I love the cover and idea of the story but I'm not sure that I'll add it to the top of my list just yet.
ReplyDeleteIf you even find a weeklong seminar to study Austen at Oxford, I will so go with you!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people have liked this one. I may have to try it one of these days. I'm a sucker for a cover and I do like this one.
ReplyDeleteLovely review, Staci! I can't wait to see what you think of Jane Austen Ruined My Life!
