We share what we each picked up at the library during the week.
I have to admit that now school is back in session and life is in full swing, my reading time has seriously suffered. So last Saturday I decided to "GET REAL" and returned a bunch of books that I knew I would never have time to get to. I was so proud of myself after unloading all of those books because I only brought home one instead of letting the impulsive side of me start loading up on more books that I will not have enough time to read before they're due!! So here's the lovely little book that made its way to my book bag!
A Thread of Truth by Marie Bostwick
The greatest thing about being involved in the book blogging community is how much more aware of authors/books I've become. Now as I am looking at books in the library or bookstores, I'll see a book and think to myself, "I read about that one and the reader really loved it, maybe I should buy it or check it out." Everyone has a big influence on what I choose to read now and honestly this year has been the best year of reading I've ever experienced!! So I want to say THANK YOU to Bonnie for introducing me to the above title, she's the reason why I grabbed it from the shelves!! Read her review on this one here.
Synopsis:
At twenty-seven, having fled an abusive marriage with little more than her kids and the clothes on her back, Ivy Peterman figures she has nowhere to go but up. Quaint, historic New Bern, Connecticut, seems as good a place as any to start fresh. With a part-time job at the Cobbled Court Quilt Shop and budding friendships, Ivy feels hopeful for the first time in ages. But when a popular quilting TV show is taped at the quilt shop, Ivy's unwitting appearance in an on-air promo alerts her ex-husband to her whereabouts. Suddenly, Ivy is facing the fight of her life - one that forces her to face her deepest fears as a woman and a mother. This time, however, she's got a sisterhood behind her: companions as complex, strong, and lasting as the quilts they stitch.

I popped this one on the TBR list after reading Bonnie's review, as well. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteVery proud of you Staci :)
ReplyDeleteI returned a bunch of books too, I started on them but realised, nope, I can't waste time on struggling with one book for 2 weeks if it doesn't grab me quickly..then they go back to the one day list
Wow.......only ONE?!?!?!? LOL!!! U must be busy!! LOL! The book U got sounds AMAZING!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteI've read good reviews of this one - hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover of this one, and the synopsis sounds great!! :) Now, thanks to you, my eyes will be peeled for this one, too!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you -- as I've become more involved in the book blogging community, I look at books in a whole new way. It's awesome!
I agree with bookish blogging making me more aware. I've read a bigger variety of books this year than I've ever read. I love the cover of this book.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds fabulous! I haven't heard of it before, either, but the review has tempted me into adding it to my list.
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl! I brought this one home a few days ago too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get any this week. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that cover!
ReplyDeleteI've tried having only a few books out from the library, but it actually makes me more stressed out knowing that I don't have a lot of variety to choose from. Weird, right?!
Well this is a first!! Only one book! And it sounds like a good one too! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed this one Staci. I think it was #2 in a series, and I haven't read #1.
ReplyDeleteLove your library loot!
ReplyDeleteHow's your desk? LOL. I've tagged you for Sassy's Wednesday meme, "What's on your desk?"
Check my desk and the details at:

I had that same reaction in Borders last week. I was just going along, pointing at books and telling my husband: "have it, have it, read it, on the tbr list, on the tbr list, that one's getting great reviews, that one's not supposed to be good." I think it got tired of me very quickly!
ReplyDeletei see that everyone is trying to clear their bookshelves of books. I have stopped checking things out from the library, and that the branch is closed helps! But I had brought home a huge stack from the annual library book sale!
ReplyDeletecongrats on Getting Real! Can't say that I have but at least someone I know did :)
ReplyDeleteAnd only 1 book! I am impressed and bow down to your self control.
I checked this out as well! I read the synopsis on the back at Walmart (I snuck away from my mom). In fact, I wandered back to her with about seven books in my arms saying, "I know you won't buy them, but aren't you impressed? All these in five minutes!"
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't all too surprised, but at least I was proud of myself.
I hope you enjoy it!
Can you tell how behind I am in my blog reading?! I was sick for the whole month of September and couldn't keep up. I hope that you enjoy A Thread of Truth and thanks for the link and shout out!
