Tuesday Teasers and It's Tuesday Where Are You?

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!

Saint Serena, on her knees, doing penance.
I often amused myself this way, with small mean-minded bitter jokes about her; but not for long. It doesn't do to linger, watching Serena Joy, from behind.
What I coveted was the shears.

p. 153 from The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

I'm not liking where I'm at all. I've lost my husband and daughter and the United States has changed as we know it. It has become a place where men rule and women serve. Who you are depends on what color of dress you were given...my dress is RED. That means I am a vessel for breeding! So whenever the commander wants to "try" to conceive I must lay there and let him do what he wants. I'm not sure how much of that I can take without someone coming to harm. And to add insult to injury, READING is forbidden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

  9. It's been way too long since I've read anything by Atwood. I got through a number of her books in high school and hardly any since. I remember this one well - very chilling but a great read.
