Wintery Books- Booking Through Thursday

Wintery Books
What I want to know today is … what are the most “wintery” books you can think of? The ones that almost embody Winter?

For me it is and will always be...The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I absolutely love this book. It reflects the hardships of the time and how you were at the absolute mercy of the weather. We complain about the snow (me especially) but we really have no idea what it is to be held captive by snow!! Could you imagine not being able to go anywhere for months!! To not get food brought in by the trains, to have nothing to eat but potatoes for weeks at a time, to have no real heat because you used up all of the wood and now you have to twist straw really tight to make it burn longer? Maybe I need to read it right now? It would help put everything into perspective for me and I might stop posting about how much Michigan weather sucks!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

  2. Great perspective! I've been snowbound for most of a week here in Portland ORegon. I can't imagine months! And I could walk to the store if I really needed to. Not little Laura Ingalls though!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy snowy Holidays!

I loved Garden Spells too! You will really enjoy The Sugar Queen. I loved the characters! That book was very visual for me.

  7. I loved that book, my sister got it the same Christmas I got "Little Women". We've been trading books back and forth in the "sister circle" for a long time...
