Mockingjay- Six Sentence Bookish Thoughts #76

What Mockingjay is about:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.

I've heard the good and the bad about book three,  but I didn't let any of that influence me as I finally cracked open the spine of the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. For me,  this last chapter in Katniss' saga was absolutely compelling. I couldn't wait to get back to my book and honestly, I'm a bit sad that it is all over. Much like Katniss, I wasn't sure who to trust and I was on edge the entire time she was making her way through the Capitol to hunt down Snow. I wasn't surprised at the final shot that came from Katniss's bow....I think it needed to be done! The ending was perfect....and it worked for me!!

Recommend? Oh yes!! I'm glad I waited so long to read book 2 and 3 because I didn't get caught up in the hype, spoilers (can you believe it?), and the fight between love interests Peeta and Gale.

Source: This one came from my personal library where it languished for a few years!

  12. I love The Hunger Games Trilogy. Mockingjay was my least favorite, but that is not to say at all that I didn't like it. I think it departed somewhat from the constant action of the previous two books. There was a lot of downtime as they strategized and I often felt like Katniss- ancy and itching for something to just happen. Then I felt it was a little anticlimactic in the end. There was 3 books of build up and then the biggest parts of the puzzle were over in a couple of paragraphs. Then Primrose. I was SO not happy about THAT. I bet it is a lot more powerfully visually so I hope they hype it up in the movies a bit (which I imagine they will.) Speaking of which, have you seen the movie? I loved it and am SO excited for Catching Fire in November!
