Saturday Snapshot- First Game of Senior Year

Saturday Snapshot
It's easy to participate- just post a picture that was taken by
you, a friend, or a family member, and add your link
on Alyce's site. (no pictures from the internet!)

Marc is in the middle of the picture and is the highlighted player. He is down on the line and you can see his left arm on the field and a hint of the #4..... plus, the arrow is pointing to him!! :D

August 23rd started the football season for Marc and for the craziness of it to invade our home! This is his Senior year and I must admit that it is very bittersweet already. For over six years I have been his biggest fan and watched him grow not only as an athlete, but also as a leader on the field. He's always risen to the challenges that the coaches give him and quite honestly has made his position on the field his own. For those that don't know much about football (me included) he plays Nose on the defensive line. Usually the offensive player right across from him is one of the biggest guys on the team. Marc is only 5'8" and weighs 155 pounds. So he never outweighs his opponent, but what he brings is his speed and smarts to the position! Last night was their fourth game and Marc keeps adding to his stats of QB sacks, QB pressures, and tackles. He's fun to watch and I'm pretty proud of him, on and off the field!!

  1. I well remember how bittersweet that senior year is. Marc must be tough - nose tackle is a rough position to play. I hope he has a fabulous season and year!

  2. You are right, Staci -- this year is bittersweet. My daughter is a senior this year and the thought of packing her up for college is already playing games with my mind! Wishing Marc a winning season for his football team! I know you are a proud mom.

  5. I'm one of those people who knows nothing about football! It makes me wonder what sports my kids will be into down the road.

  14. Wow - he plays nose at his size? He really must be a very good player to be given that kind of responsibility. Did you sit at the game thinking "This is the last 1st game of the year I'll ever go to?" I did that with everything!

  18. Great job, Marc! It sounds like he has an impressive career. You should be a very proud momma! I hope he has a terrific season and you do too! :)

My three boys played sports (mainly soccer, basketball & baseball) as soon as they could walk but so did hubby and I. They played through high school and into college. We were their #1 fans and loved watching them play, even in the rain and the cold - although not my favorite time! This spring was the first time we didn't have a kid play. It was kind of sad but I didn't mind being home when the weather was lousy. Now we will have to watch the grandkids!

  20. I love how you talk about Marc, it's much like my relationship with Callum but I can't quite put it into words. How'd you do the highlighting on the photo ... very cool, I want to do it lol.
No wonder you're a proud mum, enjoy Marc's senior year and the football season.

  21. Very cool that Marc excels at a position that usually relies on heft. (Why did you have to incude his weight so that I know he is 6 inches taller and ... a few (!) pounds lighter!)

  22. What a bittersweet time for you! Does he have any plans to play in college?

  23. How fun for you--I always thought the senior year was an exciting one. It's so good to be done with all the mandatory stuff and watch your child step out ready to take on the world. They are so excited by life when they are seniors. It's hard not to get caught up in it.
