Holiday Tag!

I was tagged for this by Lisa at Lit and Life"
Check out her blog where she will be hosting the Gilmore Girl Challenge 2011 and Fairy Tale Fridays.

When do you usually know and feel that it's finally the holidays?
After the first big snow, the lights are up and the Christmas songs are on 24/7.

What do you want for Christmas this year?

A phone call from my son Mitch who is at boot camp in San Diego.

Do you go all out with decorations?
Not really...my tree has blue/red bulbs with bows as hangers and white lights.
To top it off there is a blue star. I lost most of my decorations when our basement flooded
earlier this year...will have to replenish my garland and lights!

What are you doing Christmas Eve?
I usually make snack foods and then we watch "It's a Wonderful Life."

What are you doing Christmas Day?
Opening presents and having dinner. Our extended family lives over 3.5 hours
away so it will be just the three of us.

It's Christmas time. What are you reading?
Various Christmas books that I downloaded on my son's Kindle and a few
review books that I need to finish.

Favorite movie to watch during the holidays?
"It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" plus any cute movies that may be
on. I love Elf too so we'll probably watch that one too.

Favorite Christmas song?
I love my entire CD of Christmas songs by Straight No Chaser.

Favorite holiday drink?
New Year's Eve vodka shots!

How is your Christmas shopping going?
Everything is done!! Now I just need to wrap!

If you could spend Christmas Day anywhere else, where would you spend it?
London, England

Any holiday traditions?
Watching It's a Wonderful Life and then my traditional dinner on Christmas.

Favorite thing about the Holidays.
Being with my family.

Please play along if you wish to!!!

  1. Aw, I'm sure you will get that phone call! My Christmas will be on the quiet side as well - just me and my boyfriend, my parents and my brother. But then again, that's just what I need. I'm actually worried about my brother making it home from London because of all the snow. I'm sure it's lovely there right now, but not so great for travelling :P

  10. My favorite Holiday tradition is watching the original The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young. I also love A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life. I am sure that your son is looking forward to making that call as much as you are looking forward to receiving it. Hope your holidays are filled with joy and love.

  12. Straight No Chaser? I'll have to go find this - never heard of them which isn't surprising but I love 'different' or new-to-my-ears holiday music. I heard a Pearl Jam O Come All Ye Faithful yesterday and it was cool.

  14. It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite movie. I watch it on Christmas Eve as well. Christmas Day will be quiet here too - just us and the puppy. My biggest wish for you is that you get that phone call from Mitch my friend! Hugs.

  15. We are experiencing huge amounts of rain right now. Not your typical Southern California December. I am holed up with the kids, the heater is blasting, I am loading up on hot coffee and looking through the cupboards for soup because the thought of anything else right now makes me shiver.

Christmas Eve is spent with the in-laws and then we come home and watch It's a Wonderful Life.

Christmas Day we start off with french toast and loads of bacon. Then we open presents and head to a movie. The Girl wants to see Yogi Bear. The Boy wants to see Gulliver's Travels. I want to see whatever is NOT in 3D. LOL.

This Wednesday we are heading to Disneyland so the rain better stop by then.

  18. Did you get your phone call from Mitch? Your Christmas sounds so much more relaxing than mine was! Don't get me wrong, I love being with my family--just maybe not for quite so long! I still haven't watched "A Christmas Carol" but I'm going to before I put the Christmas stuff away for the year.
