Six Sentence Saturday Movie Review

The Lovely Bones- The movie has to be STELLAR or highly anticipated before I'll plunk down 7 bucks to see it in the theater. Boy, am I glad that I didn't pay 7 dollars to see this one! Remove everything in your mind if you have read the book....start with a clean slate and try not to reference the book at all. It wasn't that I hated it but ,I really did despise the cheesy heaven scenes...just did not work for me at all. What did work, though, was Stanley Tucci- he scared the %^*@ out of me!!!!! So if you have been wanting to watch this movie, do what I did and rent it from your library for cheap!!! I don't feel too bad having spent 75 cents on this one!

* disclaimer- I rented this movie from my library. Therefore, I am entitled to say whatever I want. I am not a professional movie reviewer, just a normal every day person who likes to watch an occasional movie or two.

  1. I'm with you on this one Staci. I watched it last weekend and didn't like it at all - it was barely keeping my attention. The book was much, much better!

  2. I haven't even read the book yet so I didn't see the movie either. One of these days I will do one or both but not sure when. Thanks for letting me know that the movie and book are different. One of these days they are going to make a movie that stay trues to a book, maybe.

  3. I was so excited when I heard that Peter Jackson was directing this movie. And then the reviews starting coming out and they were less than stellar. I still haven't seen the movie and not sure I ever will. I loved the book and would rather reread that but I would like to see Stanley Tucci in that role. I've heard he stole the show!

  5. Wow, lots of diverging opinions on this. As usual, I am still hibernating under the rock, not having seen the movie nor having read the book. Now I know not to even bother with the movie. Your library charges for movies? Yipes!

  6. I loved the book, but the promos for the movie looked cheesy and then I heard about the ending. I think I'll be skipping this one altogether.

  8. I read the book years ago, so I didn't remember enough of the details for that part to bother me. I thought the limbo scenes were cheesy too, but I thought Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon were great!

  11. After reading the book there was no way I wanted to see the movie. I remember how emotional the book made me feel and I was really not up to seeing it on the big screen, or my TV for that matter. After reading your review I am sure I made the right decision.

  14. I was warned off this movie as its sad. I didnt realise it was based on a book though. Might watch the movie though before I read the book but that will be awhile down the track as I work through Mt TBR.

  15. You know, since this is a book I really hadn't planned on reading, maybe I ought to check this one out of the library. I do like Stanley Tucci...

  18. I completely agree with you though I paid 7 bucks to see it. It was awful. I hadn't read the book but I had hopes for the movie. Cheesy heaven scenes, creepy Stanley Tucci and just too much.

I really only liked the big sister. She kind of kicked ass a bit.
