Making my plans for the Dewey Read-a-Thon!

I love the 24 hour Read-a-Thon...this will be my 3rd year and it's so cool knowing that all over the world there are crazy people just like me who are reading, blogging, cheering, sleeping, eating, making lists, crossing things off their lists, rubbing their eyes, and doing all of this with big cheesy grins on our faces!!

Here is the picture of my stack of anticipated reads...yes, I always start out very optimistic....

Top of the pile to the bottom:
Before I Fall
Darklight (book 2 in the series)
Tree Girl
Hush
I Hadn't Meant to Tell You This
Feather
FableHaven
Out of My Mind
The Hunger Games
Uglies
Amaranth Enchantment

I believe that I will start the day with The Hunger Games because I feel like I'm the last person on Planet Earth that hasn't read it...after that I would like to read Before I Fall and Darklight as they are due back to my public library very soon!!! My pile is once again all YA. I find them to be fast, gripping, and fun reads most of the time. Up next for me today, is to visit my library...have several to return and 4 to pick up!!! And then I will get my groceries for the week and fun stuff for tomorrow!! I have purposefully not used my extra WW points for the week so that I can eat whatever I want tomorrow and just enjoy my day. This will be the first time though that I will have to stay inside and read. The weather forecast is dismal...cold, no sun, high winds, and temps maybe reaching 63 degrees!!  I'll be cheering again and this year will be so much better for me as I now have high speed and I feel positive that I can visit so many more people during my appointed time!! I might even be able to make it through the whole 24-hours....I have to pick up my son from the Amtrak station around 12:45 am Sunday morning which will help keep me awake during the times that I so just want to sleep. I always bring a book while I'm waiting for the train so I'll still be able to get some reading in!!!

Are you participating this year???
What is your game plan?

  7. The Hunger Games and Before I Fall are both awesome - though I have to warn you, Before I Fall starts off slow.

Best of luck getting through your pile! I'll be reading too this time, but I'll stop by and see how you're doing.

  10. Oh Staci, your enthusiasm is so awesome...you left me feeling sad I won't be participating this go round. But I will be thinking about you and smiling because I know what a wonderful time you'll be having!!! The Hunger Games--you're going to love it! I read it a few read-a-thons ago...and even though I was only about half-way through it when the read-a-thon ended, I had to just keep on reading until I was done. Enjoy, Staci...all 24 hours!!!

  11. I'm not doing the Read A Thon this time around-too busy! But I'll try to stop by with some encouragement!
I still haven't read Hunger Games so you are not the last person on earth to read it.

  12. This sounds like so much fun!!!!!! I can't wait to hear what you think about The Hunger Games......I am wondering if you will be making a mad dash for the second in the series once you finish the first.

I am not officially participating but am planning on finishing the new Jodi Picoult book this weekend and then reading the new Elizabeth Berg book!!!

    Have fun!!!!

  13. The Hunger Games is one of my favorite books! I stopped by the library today. Yes, I stopped at the booksale cart and came out with 6 or 7 new books, plus I checked out 3 books. Are we supposed to list the books we plan on reading tomorrow. I think I am lucky if I can get through one book. Meredith has dance, then I promised to take her to Port Huron, so we will see how the read a thon goes.

  18. That's quite a stack of books, Staci! I wish you luck with the read-a-thon this weekend. I won't be around at all, but I'll be cheering from a distance. :-)

Oh, and I think I'll have you beat with being the last person on earth to read Hunger Games. I haven't read it yet and have no plans to in the near future. Someday. Just now anytime soon.

  22. I am SO looking forward to this event.

I really did enjoy the Hunger Games, although I have yet to read Catching Fire. My feelings were quite mixed about Fablehaven, however, so I hope you have the opportunity to read it soon and share your thoughts with us.

    Get a good night's sleep :)
